Instead of dancing at a masked ball, Isabella will become the sacrificial lamb in a ritual of domination and submission known only to the noblemen who call themselves the members of the Club. Robbed of her freedom, identity, and dignity, the girl known as Isabella slowly disappears. In her place, a new woman is born. She calls herself Belladonna, and she lives for one purpose - revenge.
Now, after an odyssey of escape, flight, and transformation, the bejeweled and utterly mysterious Belladonna will appear in swank 1950's Manhattan to create a spectacular nightclub. Always masked, as those who tormented her were, Belladonna will captivate both imaginations and hearts. No one outside her circle of loyal retainers guesses her true aim for becoming the toast of high society: She is waiting like a deadly spider for a member of the Club to walk into her web. And when he does, her exquisite plan for vengeance can finally begin...

The real star of this selection is Tim Curry's reading. He turns an OK book into a great listen. Just as delivery can make or kill a joke, Mr. Curry's reading made this selection a winner. The text is pretty mild for erotica. The naughty bits are a small fraction of the story. Mr. Curry has a grand old time, stopping just short of camp, telling the story, and the approach works perfectly. If you want an entertaining listen with a hint of erotica this is a good choice.
It seemed like a romance novel with some BDSM content. The only thing that really stood out for me was the narration. Tim Curry did a wondrful job, particularly with the women's voices in the story. He really made the book for me.
I don't know. Doubtful, but I don't know right now.
It's gotten me to look for more audiobooks read by Tim Curry.
This title is terrible in every sense, being both badly written and badly read.
Reminds me of a badly written smug essay by a 12 year old who thinks that they are being really clever while in reality they are just irritating.
The naration is really annoying, to the extent that you listen for an extra few minutes to try and figure out whether the naration or the material is the major source of irritation, before comming to the conclusion that they are a match made in hell and are not worh wasting another minute on.
Easily the worst audible offering I have downloaded. Save ourself run away !!!!
I purchased this story out of boredom, and I'm so happy to have been bored! This story 'belladonna' has become one of my top ten favorites of all time. From the first few paragraphs I was drawn in. Not a dull moment. I found myself feeling all the emtions of the character. she came alive with every sentence. I quickly looked for other work done by Tim Cury! I admire him as an actor and now as a story teller.
The story concept is interesting, as is the method of narrating it, but the story lacks sufficient suspense. Events simply flow, rather than keeping the reader guessing, and the prime culmination sequence of the story falls a little flat. However, the final chapter is masterful. Returning to the somewhat eccentric narration, Tim Curry makes something of a meal of it, and can be irritating at times, but there is no doubt that what he delivers is what the book requires (although overly smug at times). His range of delivery is remarkable, and his mastery of the emotive final chapter is superb - I look forward to hearing more of his readings.
Really good! It is read, more or less, in first person by Tim Curry & I like Tim Curry so it's an easy listen. He is just so very suited for the character that he reads as, that the story has a great flow? HOWEVER!! The story itself is very dark and has some very explicite sexual content and can be disturbing... No foul language, but very intense content. I thought it was a pretty good story & I was happy with the ending.
Maybe the full text is erotic but this audio book had none of it. I loved Tim Curry doing lots of different voices. It was a good story but I was expecting something more sexual.
This was the best audiobook that i have listened to in a while.
She finds out she killed H*****
If you expect any juicy details, forget it. This book is simply about folks planning revenge, with no details thrown in.
The story is intriguing and I listened all the way to the end. Difficult to grasp all the characters when I only listened for 30 minutes each day. Improbable twists, in my opinion. Erotica is intense but implied more than graphically described.
"Sex and revenge makes a heady but scary mix..."
I liked that Belladonna is in no way ashamed of wanting revenge on those who have wronged her, and intends to get it any way she can, and she only knows one way thanks to them - lust as a weapon.
I was completely drawn into the need to find out who her abusers had been, and how she would track them down so they could pay.
I liked best the enuchs story, you didnt realise at first there was a story there, or how they had come together, but it all suddenly made sense.
This book deal with the aftermath of long years of terrible abuse after a girl is sold into sex slavery, so there is much to move you. That said it is dealt with sensitively, despite the book being about revenge.
Definately not one if you dont like sex scenes - its not littered with them though, its not thatkind of book. You arent intended to really enjoy the scenes at all, but need them to understand the protagonists need for such revenge and all consuming outrage.
