Publisher's summary

An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Discover the story that garnered more than two million reads online.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate - and completely irresistible. A beautiful bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative - completely infuriating - creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules - or outright smash them - if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other.

Originally only available online as The Office by tby789 - and garnering over two million reads on fan-fiction sites - Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for rerelease.

Evesdropping on Wife's Girl Group Book

Any additional comments?

My wife ordered this book so she a several other nurses (all women) could listen to it during a long drive they made to a medical convention. So... I figured I'd see what the ladies were so interested in and loaded it on my MP3. Holy-up-against-the-office-window and up with the skirt girl! This book proves guys are just too stupid to really understand all that women are. The plot and story were so-so, but I gave it an overall 4 stars because I actually sported wood several times during the narrative, and that alone is worth 2 stars. It's a wonder my wife and her colleagues didn't crash the car on the way to San Francisco.

Panty Ripping Good Time

I picked up this book on the recommendation from people that I follow on the Audible site. I am glad I downloaded it. It is a unexpected sexual romp that develops between two people who are very driven get on each others nerves and know they shouldnt cross that line when it comes to inter office romance. It is a fun love/hate relationship with a lot of confusion when it comes to feelings, careers, and the struggle of what's right and wrong. When it comes down to that animal urge they just say "F-it" and let it fly. I like how you hear from each characters point of view. I always want to know what the guy is thinking. Lots of humor which I like and very likeable people. It is worth the credit and I will look for this author in the future.

HHHOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTT!

WOW! This is definitely an EROTIC book. It starts out hot and heavy and never backs down. At times I didn't get all the "Hate Sex" or why these two had to have sex in the work place (really? they weren't worried about getting caught). Despite the complaints and the light plot I still enjoyed this book. I knew what I was getting into from the start and just enjoyed the ride.

Wannabe's Pay Attention. This is How it is Done.

This is the first book in a series that on the face of it appears to be another attempt to take advantage of the 50 Shades hype. But it is not a 50 Shades wannabe. It is a good book. A very good book. The writing, pace and characters are all better developed that 50 Shades and definitely better than any of the 50 Shade clones.

It is formulaic, but it works and it includes an element that seems to be lacking in the angst-filled batch of erotic romance novels published lately. It is funny. There are some laugh out-loud funny lines. The characters take their relationship seriously, but they are also having fun. No brooding stares, no meaningful silence. The hero doesn't have an unbelievable medical condition that makes him violent in his sleep, he isn't obsessed with a medieval author to the point that he almost channels him and he is not the most wealthy, wildly successful, way too young for his success, handsome man in the entire world, or at least the Pacific Northwest. He is rich and good looking, but not the richest and best looking. So he comes across as more real than the heroes of several recent books.

It passed my sure fire test with flying colors. When I was done reading the book I wanted to know what happened to the characters next. I wasn't ready to let go of them. If a book makes me feel that way, I can forgive a lot.

If you like this genre I really recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

Men Beware

Gentlemen, I hope you get down the list far enough to see this. You may notice that all the five star reviews are from women. That is because this is only borderline erotica. This is Romance or shall we say Lustmance.

POWER PANTIES
Okay, I like a girl who buys power panties. I do worry about a guy who collects them though. Most of the 20 chapters have a sexual encounter in them and the sex is hot at times. If you like different places, I believe they had sex in about four places, before they made it to a bed. The first part of the book is I hate you, but your hot, so go ahead and rip my panties and do what you want with me. The middle of the book is, what about my career, I should not be doing this, I will not do it again, but your so hot, okay bend me over. The last half is warm and fuzzy sex. They claim they love each other, but they don't want to get married, they don't want to move in to together they just want to be F buddies.

I CRAVED HER LIKE A DRUG
This guy is so giving in the end. When her dad is sick and may be dying of cancer, he shows his love by offering to do some muff diving. Hell, how can she turn that down, it sure shows he cares.

Audible has this down as sex and erotica, but I notice the sequel is considered a romance.

As far as having sex with a woman you think is a bitch, we don't care. I mean that is what she is needs anyway, I'm I right guys. All women just need orgasms and we men are usually not that picky, but I thought it was different the other way around.

All of the characters sound the same, male or female. They should have had two different narrators.

This is a three star book for guys and a five star sex book for women.

Sex, Sex, Hate sex, Sex... Plot?

I hate you. So? I hate you. Sex. I hate him. I hate her. Sex. Hate, sex, sex, hate, kinky sex, naughty sex, boardroom sex, mom's bathroom sex, you cant have her sex, hotel sex, I love you sex. The end.

Oh. My bad. I should have warned you about the spoilers :)

So this review is a bit silly but then again so is the book. There's really no plot just a lot of hate and sex. He's hot, she's hot, he's mega rich, she's an intern, somehow they got off on the wrong foot then they just got off. No plot, no character decriptions, even less depth than FSOG if you can believe that, but then, the book its pretty hot so if you just want sex with a little bit of a situation, this is for you. Don't get me wrong, this book was fun to read, but I'm not giving it 5 stars. Harry Potter gets five stars. I'd give this book 2 stars if it didn't inspire some fun moments.

Very Enjoyable

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked that it gave both characters feelings. I wish the narrators male voice was more masculine, but I loved everything else!!

Any additional comments?

This is one WELL worth the credit or just buying it!!! It is explict but I have no problems with that. Plus, the passion is sooooo good. I will definitely keep my eyes open for all of Christina Lauren's books because I love her style!

Story underdeveloped

I might be a little, over the top, but when I am searching for a new book or series, as I prefer, to listen to, I actually do reaearch. I search different Web sites, read both amature and professional reviews and deliberate. This series came up on several independent articles, so I bought book one. Maybe there are readers/listeners that prefer short, concise stories where the story is comfortably predictable; but I do not.

This story was touted as one of the most popular erotica novels, of recent years. It was supposed to be a deep romance, but I disagree. It contained some erotica and romance but deep, it was not.

Maybe authors like Kristen Ashley, Diana Gabledon and Jodi Malpus have ruined me, but this novel is too short and the characters are seriously underdeveloped. It is somewhat entertaining and I find I want to know Max and Sarah's story (the next novel in the series) but I know the novel will leave me wanting.

I guess what I am trying to say is that if I were to make one statement about, "Beautiful Bastard" and the follow up novella, "Beautiful Bitch", combined, it would be that they are a good outline for a potentially powerful novel.

Hard to Follow

Would you try another book from Christina Lauren and/or Grace Grant?

Yes I would

Would you be willing to try another book from Christina Lauren? Why or why not?

Yes because the proformance wasn't the issues I had

What didn’t you like about Grace Grant’s performance?

It wasn't her proformance with the character of being a female. I had a hard time following along of who was who. Grace was playing both characters and I had to keep rewinding and trying to catch who she was in which scene. She did fine as Cloe but when she proceeded as Bennett I lost interest.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Beautiful Bastard?

None

Any additional comments?

I would've made sure a male narrator played the male parts so it was easier to follow along.
