Publisher's summary

First published three decades ago and hailed as "one of the best books of the year" by the New York Times, here is the classic novel that first established Scott Spencer as "the contemporary American master of the love story" (Publishers Weekly). With more than 2,000,000 copies sold worldwide and translated into more than 20 languages, Spencer's Endless Love is a breathtaking story of teenage passion and obsession. The Washington Post called this unforgettable listening experience, "akin to the legendary thrill of riding a roller-coaster". Endless Love is eternal - and as moving and satisfying as ever before.

Enjoyed book and movie

Wonder if I would have enjoyed the book more if read before I saw the movie. Still find both very interesting worth the read/listen. Left with the feeling the book ending should’ve been more dramatic, yet it feels more realistic, true to life. Makes you wonder who was more injured by the relationships….. The Butterfields or David and his family???

Loved it

Saw the movie in 1979 and never thought about the book until now. Loved the book and still love the movie.

Not what I expected

I loved the movie, as a teen in the eighties, I thought I’d give the book a shot and I’m glad I did. The movie was sweet but the book is about complete and total obsession. It goes so much deeper and darker than the movie.

Endless Drone

Story started well, but drawn out descriptions and protracted introspection prevents any development of pace. The narrator is well suited to this dirge.
I am struggling to complete it.

Catcher in the Rye-esque

I bought this because I really likes the movie. This is nothing like the movie. How the movie turned out the way it did I will never know. The main character is an asshole, a stalker, and a psychopath. He intentionally burns down his lovers house. the proceeding pages of the book follows him for 6ish years as he tries to find out where his lovers family went. He tracks down his lovers mom and has intercourse with her. The he tracks down his lovers father, and finally he finds his former lover. Now we are %75 done with the book. Just now we are finally meeting the main love interest from the movie. seeing as the main focus was on the wayward main character I stopped listening here.
