Better than nothing

The information in this audiobook is good, unfortunately the book is just too short to be very useful. This audiobook should only be a supplement to your preparation for the Comptia A+ exam, don't use this as your sole study method. This is really the only Comptia A+ audiobook option, if you want something better I'd recommend getting a physical book, like Mike Meyers all in one exam guide, take notes from it, then use your microphone to make your own audiobook. The audio and presentation likely wouldn't be as good, but you'd have better material and learn a lot in the process.

Excellent terminology review

This is a great review for terminology associated with the A+ exam. This would also be a good resource for anyone who just wants to know more about computers. Some of it will be too technical for the second group, but it contains a lot of useful information about troubleshooting.

The only caveat is that the last version of Windows that had been released when this review was published was Vista, so if you're looking for a lot of in-depth information on Windows, you might want a more current resource. I didn't downgrade it for that because it's still a wonderful review of the basics of computers, how they work, how to set them up, and how to troubleshoot.

As I say in all of my reviews of CompTia review audiobooks, keep in mind that this is a review and not a course. The brevity of the book makes it easy to listen to again and again to become comfortable with key concepts and terminology, but it could not be used alone.

The narration was excellent for a technical guide. I listened to it at 2x, but it could be enjoyed at almost any speed.

Some outdated info but still good for beginners.

some of the info is outdated but it's still good for beginners. If you know nothing about computers, this will be perfect for you to learn what you need in conjunction with more recent resources.

This, plus my Kindle book was all I needed to pass

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it was great quick refresher to listen to at night and right before the exam. It covers the bare bones you need to pass the test.

What other book might you compare CompTIA A+ Essentials (220-701) Lecture Series to and why?

CompTIA A+ Certification For Complete Newbies

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

LOL. It's a lecture on A+ certification, there is no real "emotion" in it, it's just the basic info you need to pass the test.

Any additional comments?

This lecture plus CompTIA A+ Certification For Complete Newbies was what I primarily used to prepare for the exam. Between these two source and my basic knowledge of being a nerdy computer guy (having built many computers on my own before) was all I needed to pass the 701 A+ test with a nearly perfect score (missed 4 questions out of 100).

Great information! Very well narrated.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was very much. Very helpful. And, god knows- it saves your eyes from very tough technical reading.

Would you be willing to try another book from PrepLogic? Why or why not?

Yes. Very much. Made classes I take easier. Well worth the money.

Did the narrator do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes. Very precise. Well spoken and very clear to understand.

Could you see CompTIA A+ Essentials (220-701) Lecture Series being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

A movie or a T.V. series?? Who would be the viewers- prisoners whom refuse to talk.I said it made my Computer Tech. class easier, but it is still the most difficult reading of my life. Here's an idea: make it mandatory for the prisoners to read my test book, in order to be released. They"ll crack in 30 minutes.

Any additional comments?

How much to star in the movie?

For the complete beginner.

If you are completely new to computers, like you don't know what CPU, RAM, or think memory is only where you store your files, this is a good book for you. Otherwise, go with something else.

In this book Blu-Ray is a new thing, the next version of the CompTIA test will come out in 2012, and Windows 7 is "coming out next year" so some of the information is quite dated. But the core of the information (what RAM is and how it works, the difference between storage and memory, and how motherboards and processors work.) is still valid.
