Publisher's summary

Not too long ago, lethal infections were feared in the Western world. Since that time, many countries have undergone a transformation from disease cesspools to much safer, healthier habitats. Starting in the mid-1800s, there was a steady drop in deaths from all infectious diseases, decreasing to relatively minor levels by the early 1900s.

The history of that transformation involves famine, poverty, filth, lost cures, eugenicist doctrine, individual freedoms versus state might, protests and arrests over vaccine refusal, and much more.

Today, we are told that medical interventions increased our lifespan and single-handedly prevented masses of deaths. But is this really true?

Dissolving Illusions details facts and figures from long-overlooked medical journals, books, newspapers, and other sources. Using myth-shattering information, this book shows that vaccines, antibiotics, and other medical interventions are not responsible for the increase in lifespan and the decline in mortality from infectious diseases. If the medical profession could systematically misinterpret and ignore key historical information, the question must be asked, “What else is ignored and misinterpreted today?”

Perhaps the best reason to know our history is so that the worst parts are never repeated.

The Definitive Book on Vaccines!!

“Resolving Illusions” by Susan Humphries lives up to its title. Having a scientific background and many years of vaccine research, I found this book to be lonesome dove of vaccine truth. It should be required reading for anyone who seeks truth not only on vaccines but the Medical Field in general - well done Dr. Humphries .... May God Bless your Soul! Charles “Ellis” Bruce, Fayettiville Arkansas

An eye opener of history

I am glad I listened, instead of read this book. It's a bit tedious but worth it! It's good homework!

Important and Courageous

The authors looked at the history of multiple diseases and the efficacy of the vaccines that were developed to combat those illnesses. This tragic history, which has been largely forgotten and swept aside, is recounted here. This is not an easy book to listen to. However, it’s a valuable book and well worth the effort.

A much needed point of view

This book is hravy with data. Data that is not part of the stories most people know. One does not need to agree with all the conclusions, but awareness of all the data is important.

Taught me so much

Always had gut feelings of what this book discusses. To hear all the history from real documents and not opinion was amazing. I have so many ways to learn more about this now.

Well researched

This was a very dense read, but made so because of the research given with citation to follow up on and the many layers, medical, immunological, social, socioeconomic, etc. that were presented in such a thought provoking way. I am compelled to read it again because of the nuanced information and implications that could/should be reviewed.
