LESSONS FROM A BOSS-LEVEL DISRUPTOR AND GAMING LEGEND

Reggie Fils-Aimé, retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America Inc., shares leadership lessons and inspiring stories from his unlikely rise to the top.

Although he’s best known as Nintendo's iconic President of the Americas—immortalized for opening Nintendo’s 2004 E3 presentation with, “My name is Reggie, I'm about kicking ass, I'm about taking names, and we're about making games”—Reggie Fils-Aimé’s story is the ultimate game plan for anyone looking to beat the odds and achieve success.

Learn from Reggie how to leverage disruptive thinking to pinpoint the life choices that will make you truly happy, conquer negative perceptions from those who underestimate or outright dismiss you, and master the grit, perseverance, and resilience it takes to dominate in the business world and to reach your professional dreams.

As close to sitting one-on-one with the gaming legend as it gets, you will learn:

  • About the challenges Reggie faced throughout his life and career—from his humble childhood as the son of Haitian immigrants, to becoming one of the most powerful names in the history of the gaming industry.
  • What it takes to reach the top of your own industry, including being brave enough to stand up for your ideas, while also being open to alternative paths to success.
  • How to create vibrant and believable visions for your career, your team, and your company.
  • How to maintain relentless curiosity and know when to ask questions to shatter the status quo.

Insightful business advice paired with an engaging life story

Thanks to Reggie for sharing this insightful business advice paired with an engaging life story. It may make it better that I’m a Nintendo fan, but I found his business insight valuable and delivered in an engaging story telling manner I think I’d appreciate regardless. Not a boring philosophical how to guide like many books. Real. Relatable. Wise.

Great hearing about Reggie’s career

This was a great autobiography about Reggie and his career. Very interesting to hear some of the influence he had on how a lot of things were done not only at Nintendo but his other companies as well.
He also does a great job of narrating the book himself.

Interesting Author but Feels Uninspired

I'm a big Reggie fan and it was nice to learn about his story and some behinds the scenes stuff about Nintendo. I think that some of his advice is very general and something you would hear from the many other people making advice books. Certain things do stick out but it really wasn't memorable. The most memorable parts had to do with his personal life events and stories about Nintendo.

While I could listen to Reggie's voice all day, he speaks like he's announcing a videogame the whole time. He never really lets go of that tone until the bonus interview.

Great read for Nintendo fans and people looking for career advice

I truly enjoyed listening to this book. Reggie is so personal and candid about a range of subjects. I love how he tied everything back to the so what at the end of the chapters. Overall I highly recommend this book and would enjoy more from him.

An insightful journey

This book tells a very interesting story about Reggie's personal journey as an executive, a businessman and a disruptor. Reggie is an oddity within the gaming industry, an executive as admired and beloved as some of the most legendary of gaming developers and creators. The book is not very long, so he does not go very in-depth throughout his time at Nintendo as one would like, but is a very fine look at his time at the helm of the western part of the Mushroom kingdom. very recommended
