Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Dray's historical fiction series comes to a stunning conclusion as the daughter of Cleopatra risks everything to revive her dynasty.

After years of abuse as the emperor's captive in Rome, Cleopatra Selene is now a powerful queen, ruling over the exotic kingdom of Mauretania with her husband, King Juba II, by her side. But when a jealous Augustus Caesar demands that her children be given over to him to be fostered in Rome, Selene is drawn back into the web of imperial plots and intrigues that she vowed to leave behind....

Determined and resourceful, Selene must shield her loved ones from the emperor's wrath, all while vying with ruthless rivals like King Herod. But unless she can find a way to overcome the threat to her marriage, kingdom, family, and faith, Selene may very well be the last of her line....

Satisfying Conclusion to a Beautiful Story

So very satisfied with how this ended. The heartbreak was deep in one as it was in the others. Well done and deeply researched. I would love to have Julia’s tale someday. Mx. Garcia did an amazing job bringing each character to life. I will be listening to anything else she narrates.

Great narrator, good finale of the series

The narrator is wonderful, her voice is beautiful and easy to listen to. Not how I wanted the book to end, but it's historically based and not fantasy, and I accept that. 9/10 would recommend

A long read remained captivating

I love historical fiction and there were enough historical facts woven in with the fiction that made this a very interesting book. I enjoyed the many voices and tones of the reader and found the progress of the book nicely paced.
It kept me coming back to hear what was in store for Celine Cleopatra.

Beautiful

The entire series has been a beam of light on a life I otherwise would never have known about. The writing was well done without being wordy and the narrator changed voices in a way that kept me enthralled. Will definitely listen again.

Bittersweet end to her life of struggle

I liked this book and appreciate the historic commentary at the end of each book in this series. It helps you better understand choices made by the author throughout. No one wants a story to end sadly, but as this is historical fiction, you know it can't end well, as Cleopatra Selene had a relatively short life. It is nice to watch the evolution of her marriage to Juba and the growth and maturity of her daughter Isidora, however, the end leaves you wishing she were there for longer.

Great conclusion

This was a very interesting series about a little known queen from the Ptolemy dynasty. I love how the story was told, the reader was very good at conveying Selene’s voice. The twists and turns, although not 100% historically accurate due to lack of historical information, kept the reader interested. I thoroughly enjoyed this book has a fan of Egyptian history.
