Sophie ist eine absolute Stadtpflanze, doch ihr Leben in Hamburg läuft eher schlecht als recht. Dort steht sie überrascht vor ihrem Erbe: ein renovierungsbedürftiges, altes Mühlengebäude mit einem Café im Erdgeschoss.
Doch die Sache hat einen Haken, denn Sophie kann nur erben, wenn sie das Café weiterführt. Sie nimmt die Herausforderung an - trotz aller Widrigkeiten. Mit Improvisationstalent und viel Einsatz beginnt sie, das Café auf Vordermann zu bringen. Die sehr eigenwilligen Dorfbewohner sind ihr dabei keine große Hilfe.
