Publisher's summary

Why does it so often feel like Christians can’t talk about the real, hard stuff in life?

We know our lives should reflect Jesus; what He did and said, and how He interacted with others. But if we’re being honest, there are days when we face tough, confusing things that can make us feel, well, very not like Jesus. As our culture moves further from truth and grace, Christians are burned-out, isolated, and unsure of where to turn for sound biblical advice that applies to their everyday struggles. If you’ve ever felt this way or wished someone would talk about things like forgiveness, mental health, broken friendships, redirected dreams, sex, facts versus feelings, church hurt, rest, weakness, healing, and more in honest, down-to-earth terms while sticking to what Scripture has to say about them, you’ve come to the right place.

Confessions of a Crappy Christian is for you if you

  • have ever thought you’re too messed up for church
  • feel exhausted and alone in your struggles
  • think you need to complete a checklist before God will love you
  • need a friend who cares about you too much to let you stay stuck

With honesty and vulnerability, Blake Guichet, host of the popular podcast Confessions of a Crappy Christian, helps us embrace the truth that we can’t do it all perfectly and gives us the wisdom, guidance, and hope to move from “crappy” Christian into a freer and fuller walk with Christ.

Awesomely Authentic

I would expect nothing less from Blake, but she somehow manages to be funny and free while dealing with some heavy topics. Very well done and Biblically solid.

loved the straight forward real talk

If you're a staright shooter, this one is for you! Heavy but critical subjects, to the point with biblical references to back up it up. Great the first time through and one I can see myself coming back to again.

Review

I really enjoyed listening to Blake tell her story and being real and vulnerable with us. She covers many topics that so many of us struggle with and have a hard time talking about them. I related to a lot of the issues she addressed.

I took one star off in “story” because she comes across as being harsh towards naturally quiet and sweet women while speaking about the Proverbs 31 woman. I think that subject can be talked about in a way that includes all personality types.

Holy Crap!

Blake delivers a relatable, attainable, & clear account of how God has worked through her life. She lays out the path to refocus our attention back to Him and encouragement to put love at the forefront of our walk with Christ. Thank you, Blake for this beautiful gift.

Blake is so real and honest! Do not skip this one!

I have been following Blake on Instagram for quite a few years. She helped get me through some challenging times in 2020 when I faced not only the pandemic, but the worst friendship breakup of my life. I respect her boldness and her ability to admit when she is wrong and needs to apologize. I tend to struggle in that area. Regardless of where you are in your walk with Jesus or if you have never had a relationship with Him, you will relate to something in this book. It isn't about "self-help" necessarily, but recognizing that through Christ we can be all He created us to be and beyond. Even if that means we are too much for some people, which I often am. Blake, thank you for being you and unashamed. Thank you for sharing some of the most painful and personal experiences in your life so I could yell out "yes girl!" while driving in my car alone listening to you recant your stories. Blake is all of us at some point in the journey. In the end, you will be encouraged to be exactly who God made you to be and so much more.

Blake is the real deal! 🙌🏼

So thankful for a “like-minded” Christian view from such a relatable perspective. Blake really lays things out and and helps you understand God’s Grace, love and forgiveness are for all of us. His love is so redeeming and His grace is sufficient. Thank you, Blake for writing from your heart and talking about the hard stuff that most of us need to hear and accept about ourselves to move forward and feel better about most things we’ve been taught growing up in “the church”! So good!

Bold and revealing

I'm 50 and I got so much from this book. I really enjoyed that the author read the book and her honesty. Many things I heard, I would grab my phone to text my daughter, husband &/or bff to share her insights. You're never too good of a Christian to expand and learn. This book provided me with both.

Blake is awesome. You don’t hear the truth often enough in down to earth relatable sort of way like this.
She is right on the mark with her topics! I was constantly stopping and writing down quotes throughout this entire book. Fantastic!

you need to read this

I absolutely LOVED this book. So real, and everything is backed up with scripture so you know everything she is talking about it legit. there is no shaming whatsoever but rather showing we aren't alone, and that God loves us NO MATTER WHAT. He hurts when we hurt. will probably relisten again :)

Honest, raw, and convicting (in the very best way!)

I loved listening to this book for so many reasons. The honest discussions about the things most of us are uncomfortable talking about, we’re eye-opening and liberating.
