Publisher's summary

A magical weapons master just might be the key to saving the continent from a deadly plague; if only she didn’t have to romantically entangle herself with a dangerous fae leader to do it.

Rose has kept her head down and life private for the last ten years, making weapons in the remote northern village and staying away from the world of the Compass Points. Running from her past seemed like the easiest way to deal with her pain. When a representative of the Suden Point, the leader of the earth fae, comes looking for a magical weapons master, her secrets may start to unravel.

Deadly and determined, Luc needs Rose’s skills to help fight a mist plague overtaking the continent.

When the plague hits too close to home, Rose must decide her fate. Continue to run from her past? Or go to the one place she swore never to return, Compass Lake.

A romantic fantasy in a world inspired by United States National Parks. Fans of Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries will love this enchanting new fantasy series with enemies to lovers, fake dating, and elemental magic.

Cozy, charming, and romantic

What a truly charming book! Brimming with picturesque world-building reminiscent of national parks and a cozy, romantic atmosphere, I binged this audiobook in one day. The narrator is fantastic!

I adored Rose and Luc. Rose being a magical weapons master was something I’d never encountered in an FMC before, and I loved how badass she was. Luc appears grumpy and menacing but is really a cinnamon roll and supports her unconditionally. And Arie! A lovable, witty shapeshifting animal companion who’s definitely keeping secrets. And knows there’s nothing fake about Luc and Rose’s “fake relationship” 😂.

With hidden powers, meddling gods, and an ominous mist, the stakes are a bit higher yet make for a captivating, low-stress read.

Action filled cozy fantasy

I loved this cozy fantasy romance! It was fun, fast-paced, full of adventure, romance, political intrigue, and an adorable shapeshifting animal companion!

Our main character, Rose, is my favorite type of character! She’s an underestimated, magical weapons master! While she has had a rough life, she doesn’t let it bring her down. She is strong, fierce, loyal, and very logical. Rose has built a nice life for herself! But when the mist plague attacks her village, she is forced to face her childhood demons.

The slow burn between Rose and Luc is delicious! I loved their chemistry from the start! The characters are older, but the start of the book does have a YA feel. The characters mature throughout the story though and we do get a little spice.

And let’s not forget how much I love Arie! I mean who wouldn’t love a hilarious, animal shapeshifter protector!?

This story has a little of everything: • Kickass heroine • Hidden identity • Elemental Magic • Political intrigue • Touch her and Die • Fake Dating • He Fell First • Cinnamon Roll Hero • Only one bed • Animal companion

I can’t wait for the next book! I highly recommend this one the next time you’re looking for a low angst, romantasy with high rewards!

Kari Hollowell gave a great performance! I had so much fun! She sounds younger than I pictured the heroine though.
