Publisher's summary

Written resumes are only good for opening doors, not closing deals. The unwritten resume is a real-time and deeply memorable depiction of you. It is a collection of impressions you leave behind with everyone who encounters you - in person, or on the phone. It is what triggers action - good or bad - because it represents who you really are to those with whom you interact.

This book is about attitude, contextual intelligence, communication skills, passion, self-confidence, humility, honesty, caring, ability to execute, and creating your future.

Giving the power of leadership to you hands

Would you listen to Common Sense Wisdom, Volume II again? Why?

Yes. And I did. I already returned to certain sections when i experienced something which I read about before and wanted to get a new perspective on it.

Any additional comments?

The topic of leadership is my passion. This book is in the top 5 books that I read about leadership. It is deep, insightful and yet in a way simple. It makes me think and rethink certain opinions and topics. I listened to it every morning for the past two months and even during this period I already returned to certain chapters. I consider this book my book of wisdom which I use when I need to.

The best book series that I have read, and now listened to, in years.

Pepper de Callier's books speak to a variety of audiences. No matter where you are at in your career or life in general, his wisdom can benefit you.

As a graduate student, I really appreciated and enjoyed all of Pepper's wisdom and feel that it has had a huge positive impact on me. There are books that claim, and fail, to provide something, there are books that deliver but fall short of making an impact, and then there are books that absolutely change you and leave you so much better off than before you encountered them. Pepper's book series is easily the latter. Common Sense Wisdom, Volume II, along with his other books, will be a constant source of wisdom throughout the rest of my life.

An Audiobook True to Its Title

Where does Common Sense Wisdom, Volume II rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Common Sense Wisdom is among the top audiobooks I have listened to - it is succinct, thoroughly interesting and practical.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the book's structured storyline and HR practitioner's view of how to best represent one's "unwritten resume" in an honest, yet effective way. The author uses anecdotes saliently to enliven and illustrate his point, including an example of hubris - an episode when the firm Saatchi and Saatchi commissioned an "high flying" poem just before missing the market and "tanking".

Have you listened to any of Pepper de Callier’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have read Pepper de Callier’s first book which was an equally interesting and a useful read.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me think - about my career and about how others perceive me as a person and that is the best I can expect of any book. Well done, Pepper.

Any additional comments?

While a quick listen, this book can be quite impactful if used appropriately. The author's reading of the book add to the distinctive feel of it.

I don't have a big enough library or experience with audio books to compare to this audio book.

The Must-Hear Masters Course for Being Successful

This is the second book in Mr. de Callier's "Common Sense Wisdom" series. If the first book is an excellent undergraduate course, this one is the grad school sequel. It's a very powerfully- presented, in-depth study of what makes people successful in life and in a career. Aimed at raising awareness about your "unwritten resume". What the sum total of you -- how you talk, dress, act, treat others tells bosses and co- workers about your potential for success. Again Mr. de Callier's insistent, confident yet comforting voice creates a personal bond between his carefully chosen words and the listener. You probably never thought about success in the way this book breaks it down. But you should. When is bring passionate NOT a good quality? What is "delusional" optimism or pessimism? Contextual intelligence? How do these qualities add or detract from you as a 21st century leader? You could spend 2 years in grad school and not learn a quarter of what you'll accomplish by listening to Mr. De Callier, letting him help you see yourself as others may and then learning how you can shape the necessary changes. Of all the qualities he explores and extols in the book, I think the most useful one to identify is "mental toughness". Resilience. The ability to try and fail and try again. And again. As many times as it takes. You simply can't do better for yourself and your career and your dreams than to buy this book and listen to it. Often.

The Power of Self Awareness

As a former teacher (now working in the world of consulting), self reflection and self awareness, both universally applicable tools, were among the most difficult to teach.

This book is the easiest and most practical tutorial on these essential tools which foster continuous improvement.

Pepper DeCallier also teaches us it's more than just confidence and assertiveness. It is also the substance one gains from knowing thyself.

The best part is that this book, while bordering on philosophy, is easy to digest and anyone seeking an edge in an increasingly competitive world can benefit from.

I certainly have.
