Publisher's summary

Marco's life as a messenger isn't great, but the work is easy, and he gets retirement pay in 30 years. Little does he know his life teeters on the cusp of change.

When an unusual assignment sends him overseas, he finds himself stranded in foreign lands. Even that wouldn't be so bad if he weren't constantly outrunning pirates, embroiled in international intrigue, and attacked by a hummingbird with an appetite for human brains - that's just the start of his misadventures.

But lurking in the wings is a much greater threat than getting sacked from his job. The fate of an entire civilization may rest upon his scrawny shoulders. In spite of himself and quite by accident, Marco may become the hero he strives not to be.

Fun, fantastic, and funny!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I sure would. Marco's journey is fun, fantastic, and funny. It's a adventure full of pirates and dragons. I highly recommend it.

What other book might you compare The Gullwing Odyssey to and why?

The humor of this book is like what you would find in the "Shrek" movies.

Have you listened to any of Elliott Walsh’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've never heard any other performances by Elliott, but I'd like to. He does an outstanding job at bringing the story to life by giving every character his unique voice. And his comedic timing is great!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A young man goes on the journey of a lifetime by accident, and becomes the hero he strove not to be.

Hilarious, insightful, and sure to please

As the author of this work, I'm a little hesitant to review it, but I must give credit where it is due: Dr. Elliott Walsh's narration is exceptional.

"The Gullwing Odyssey" is a very funny book, and one with substance. The titular character, Marco Gullwing, is a young man who learns that sometimes the life you seek isn't the life you ought to lead. The moral of the story is to be the best "you" that you can be. Of course, he learns this the hard way while dodging pirates and narrowly escaping with his life.

Dr. Walsh's narration makes the written word come alive. His vocal style is nuanced, crisp, engaging, and enjoyable. It shows that he has a passion for storytelling - he doesn't narrate books, he performs them. The end result is a hilarious, insightful work that is sure to please. Bravo!

Charming, original, and absolutely hilarious

Would you listen to The Gullwing Odyssey again? Why?

Absolutely! The plot is witty and fun, and the humor is PG-rated. This is a romp of an adventure for all ages, full of pirates, wizards, dragons, flying ships, and many more surprises.

The narration is amazing! The narrator, Elliott Walsh, is a natural storyteller. He gives each character his own voice. His easygoing style brings a casual, breeze vibe to the story. When the action gets intense, he delivers a nail-biting performance.

What other book might you compare The Gullwing Odyssey to and why?

The humor is similar to "The Princess Bride," "Discworld," and "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy".

Have you listened to any of Elliott Walsh’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't heard any others of Elliott Walsh's performances, but I am certain they are great, judging by his performance in "The Gullwing Odyssey."

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book is extremely funny, very tense in the action sequences, and many memorable moments.

Any additional comments?

Bravo to the author for having written this amazing book. Bravo to the narrator for this amazing performance.

A fun adventure with a lot of smart humor

I'll be honest, I had bought the kindle book on a friend's recommendation, and I started the book, but like many other books, I set it aside until I'm not as busy. I saw the other day that it was on audiobook and I started listening to this in the morning. I finished this evening. It had a story that was fun and interesting and was interspersed with humor that had me laughing throughout the day.
The narrator was also great. Great pacing, tone, and character. Made it easy to fall into the story.

I eagerly look forward to the next book in this series. I'll probably get the audiobook as well.

A fantastic journey

Antonio Simon, Jr's fantasy adventure conjures memories of Alice's Adventures through the Looking Glass where nothing is as it seems, where magic and trickery combine with satire, love and reluctant heroism. Did I mention the dragons, wizards and pirates? A thoroughly enjoyable tale.

Aside from the entertaining and imaginative storyline, Dr. Elliott Walsh's audio performance was spot on and captured the spirit of Simon's narrative.

awful

the story just feels like random events setting up a narrative then throwing it out for something else. the humor is trying too hard to be funny when its not on the nose cruel to its target. first audiobook i returned.

Really abstract storyline, great narrator

For some reason, I did struggle to get the details and finer parts of the story - and then it ended. I think I'll have to listen to it once more..
