No apologies, just a straight 5 stars. If you're a Goon fan, you don't need my opinion. If you've never heard them, please do yourself a favour and try one of the audiobooks. You wont regret it. Anarchic humour at its best.
...and still good enough for my modern 9-yr-old boy. Thanks to the Goon Show, the miles flew by during a Christmas roadtrip to Grandma's. Thoroughly enjoyed by the grown-ups and kid, alike. Peals of laughter from all. Lots of play-on-words humor. According to Wikipedia, indeed, the guest star was not cooperating with the script and the cast had to punt. Only a very small amount was hard to follow due to the accents.
Usual goonish laughs. Loved the bits taking the Micky out of parliament and councils.
"Have a Gorilla?"
Welcome to a world of Goonery. From Bluebottle to Moriaty, from Eccles to Minnie Bannister and Henry Crun. It's got lurgi and mountain eaters! It's the highly esteemed all leather Goon Show!
"The Goons at its Best"
If you have never experienced the Goons you are missing comedy at its best. They were cutting edge in their day and they are still as funny today. I was first introduced to them by my father, who said they were the funniest thing he heard when a young man. I was not disappointed and this collection will give you a good introduction and I am sure you will be as hooked as I became. Play these on your journey into work in the mornings and you will be in a good mood all day no matter what your job throws at you. Give them a try and put a smile on your face.
