Stark Raving Black

Lewis Black uses his natural talent for hiding subtle comedy inside explosive outbursts to full effect in this new one-hour stand-up event. Compelled by his passions and his discontentedness with the absurdities of the world, he erupts in hand-shaking, body-trembling motion as he spews his signature diatribe-laced dialectic comedy.

Audible Editor Reviews

Mad as hell? Not gonna take it anymore? You and comedian Lewis Black may have something to talk about. Black brings his patented diatribe artistry to bear on Stark Raving Black, in which he rants poetic on everything from alternative energy to aging to - of course - American politics. Black may have appointed himself the nation's teakettle, but he allows the occasional moment of reflectiveness to punctuate the bouts of shrieking rage for which he's become famous, though this audiobook, taken from a performance in Detroit, has plenty of rage. In these signature moments of spitting anger, Black's voice is distinctive less for its insight or its intelligence than its hand-waving, frothing-at-the-mouth, berserker energy. He makes Howard Beale look like Bob Newhart.

He has alot to rant about, from a country/western signer and wife, who are christans to getting old and very little of this was humorous. If you like listening to this guy cuss, without a point; this is your cup of tea.... I have enjoyed his performances in the past, but this one is a zero.
