Mike Birbiglia has emerged as one of the premier storytellers in comedy. A frequent contributor to This American Life, Birbiglia shows his prodigious talents in Sleepwalk with Me: Live, which was previously an acclaimed off-Broadway play, best-selling memoir, and award-winning film. His style is witty but not overbearing, conversational yet constructed, and his overall genial demeanor means that he can broach dark topics - such as having a tumor and developing a sleeping disorder that caused him to jump out of a hotel window, nearly ending his life - and manage to sound light-hearted.
This album is a recording of Mike Birbiglia’s Off-Broadway play Sleepwalk With Me, a comic memoir of true life events revolving around his life-threatening sleep disorder. Birbiglia weaves a story as compelling as it is hysterical. It’s a story of heartbreak and denial, of incidents and escalating accidents that culminate with a death-defying leap. On the Sleepwalk With Me Live! album, Birbiglia invites listeners to take this leap with him.

Of course, he has reached a level of awkwardness that makes him so funny and relatable!
How he turns personal tragedy into some of the funniest material out there. I hope that one day I can weave my stories in the same fashion.
Think of your worst night terror and then make someone laugh at your pain, genius.
I enjoyed the stories involving his brother, I was moved to laughter. This was a common occurrence, I'm very happy to say.
Check out his My Secret Public Journal, you'll thank me later.
I enjoyed it even though it was a little disappointing. His other cds were better.
This one was a little more personal and somewhat sentimental than his others. His others were funnier.
good not great
It could possibly be a tv show based on his life.
I was a little let down with this one, but it was still an enjoyable listen.
"The perfect standup performance."
Birbiglia is a natural story-teller, and this is his masterpiece. Birbiglia gives so much of himself in this personal story that takes in insomnia, heartache, illness and all the highs and lows of life whilst still being brilliantly funny. Very few comedians achieve such heartfelt comedy; in recent years only Russel Kane has produced an album as touching and personal as this one.
