Ricky Gervais, of course, is the award-winning co-creator and star of The Office (upon which the NBC hit series is based) and HBO's Extras. Steve Merchant, who also stars in Extras, is his long-time creative partner. Karl is a humanoid life form of undetermined origin.

"If Mr. Gervais made only podcasts for the rest of his career, I'd keep downloading." (The New York Times)
Ricky Gervais is the perfect antidote to a boring car trip. My wife and I listened to the first and second seasons of his podcast over the holidays. At times I worried that I might have to pull the car over because I was laughing so hard.
I love this podcast - I have listened to parts of it several times. It is tough to describe but well worth a listen. I find these 3 very funny. Ricky Gervais can sometimes get a bit loud, but it is understandable.
There's some overlap between the HBO show and this podcast (obviously). But frankly, when the conversation is this funny, you don't mind revisiting it.
I think Ricky and Steve do a great job at instigating Karl to say what he says, which is what really makes these podcasts funny.
An Idiot on Podcasts
If you love Ricky, Karl and Steve then you will not be disappointed in this, their second venture into the world of podcasts. I thought it was as funny as the first season and still embarrassed myself frequently in public places as I listened to it. I finally realized that being known about town as the woman who wears her Ipod, bursting into periodic laughter over nothing and giggling to herself sounded like a character that Karl may have grown up with. But I don't care, I love Ricky Gervais and his crew and his podcasts never, ever let me down.
This is one of the best shows available on audible, but do not buy this copy. This version is just all of the episodes in one big file, rather than the individual episodes. Just go to the individual episodes on audible and buy them one buy one. It's a better deal.
Messrs Gervais and Merchant state several times that these podcasts are drivel. I agree whole heartedly. It is complete drivel, but it's funny drivel and very well put together.
Where else can you hear discussions (did I say discussions ?) on topics as diverse as nasty frogs that are so angry that they can kill 1000 people, spiders that go bald when you rub them, putting mirrors on the moon and how to fend off a killer octopus (by calling it a knobhead and giving it a kick) ?
Can't wait for the third series.
If you love Karl Dilkington this book as definitely the right one for you.
Karl! There's more going on than meets the eye...
Ricky is really good at teasing Karl.
No more Monkey News!!
really really funny!!
Very funny. Good for passing time. Thoroughly enjoyed. Loved mainly because of Karl Pilkington and his hilarious ways
"Half the episodes, just as much fun!"
Although coming in at only half the episodes of season 1, its still well worth the money. Never a dull moment and nonsense that keeps you in a happy mood regardless of how badly your day is going!
"Always great fun"
Ad-libbed it seems
Karl is great but daft
Good value and one of my fave things to listen to while running
"love it so much."
love it so much. they need more, just hope one day they will,
ricky, Steve and karl are amazing
"Laughed...? I Almost P****ed Myself!"
As expected, this was a laugh a minute! Funny from the very start to the very end. Karl Pilkington and his "wise" quotes, comments and observations are priceless! Of course, listening to Ricky and Steve completely take the P**s out of Karl is almost as funny as Karl's comments! Well worth every penny.
"A bit hit and miss"
Karl is once again the star of the show with his funny out of the box thinking. His diary is the biggest hit. I felt Ricky and Steve were a little venomous towards Karl this series making it less funny. They were not laughing with him but at him and it made it uncomfortable at times to listen to.
"A bunch of mates having daft conversations"
I listened to this on a 4 hour car trip following an unsuccessful job interview. Needless to say I needed cheering up. On several occasions I laughed so much I produced tears. It reminds me of the sort of discussions I would get into with good friends late at night. That said, I haven't any mates like Karl Pilkington ;)
Forget the tv shows. You want to turn up somewhere in a positive state? Listen to this on the way. You have a job that allows you to wear an MP3 player? You owe it to yourself to listen to guys who make you laugh. You may get funny looks on public transport... The comments about other places you can get this cheaper or free are moot. If you enjoy this stuff, why would you resent paying for it?
