Publisher's summary

A collection of outrageous stories by the standup comic, TV host, and inspiration for the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder

Bert Kreischer doesn't know how to say "no." If he did, he wouldn't have gotten himself mixed up with a group of Russian mobsters on a class trip to Moscow, earning him his nickname: "The Machine." He wouldn't have wrestled with a bear or swum with sharks on national television. He wouldn't have (possibly) smoked PCP with a star of Saturday Night Live. And he wouldn't have been named the Number One Partier in the Nation by Rolling Stone, inspired the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder, or performed standup to sellout crowds across the country.

The stories Kreischer shares in Life of the Party are a guidebook on how not to grow up. From his fraternity days at Florida State University, to his rise as a standup, to his marriage and first brushes with fatherhood, Kreischer shows you a path that may not lead you to maturity or personal growth. But it will lead you to a shitload of fun.

Critic reviews

“The author's affability and self-deprecation only add to his charm, and the result is a genuinely hilarious look at life in the fast lane.” —Publisher's Weekly

“Bert Kreischer is one of the great American wild men. A gonzo warrior driven not by cynicism or a desire to reveal dark truths but instead by a deep, almost essential, need to have a good time--no matter what. His stories track the trials and tribulations of a big-hearted dude trying to fit in, help out, party and find himself. After all is said and done we arrive with him at the true humility of joy.” —Marc Maron, New York Times bestselling author of Attempting Normal

“Bert Kreischer is as fearless on the page as he is on the stage. Bert admits things in Life of the Party that most of us wouldn't even admit to ourselves. Open to page one and let Bert Kreischer take you on the magical ride. You'll laugh out loud frequently, feel uncomfortable occasionally, and even feel a little warm and fuzzy at the inner warmth of this perpetual man-child--but you will always, always be entertained.” —Mick Foley, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Foley is Good

What is not to love about Bert Kreischer

Life of the party by Burke Kreischer is a must read book this year. There are so many situations where I tend to get bored with the person they chose to actually read the book. When listening to life of the party I did not press pause ones virtually takes you on a jury through his past and talks about some of the experiences that made him the hilarious person whom he is today. Contemplating getting this book? Contemplate no longer. get it. you will not regret it

The first book that is a comedy special!

I first came to hear about Bert through The Joe Rogan Experience. I connected with him through alcoholism and fatherhood. There are zero regrets that I listened to him tell his story first-hand instead of letting my dumb ass try to comprehend it myself. As an aspiring comic, heavy drinker, and most importantly a loving father, I found this therapeutic. If you're not laughing within the first five minutes, and continue to laugh in that interval for the next six hours, this tale is not for you.

The Machine!

Sometimes it is great to step back from intense books and read about someone who is a literal man child. Bert Kreischer is just such a person. He represents someone I would normally have no tolerance for. A shirtless, drunk, frat-boy. Yet, he has a very real vulnerability that shows through and amazing charisma. Also, his laugh is deadly infectious.
This book gives a great dose of Bert and is a fun read all around. His asides added a little flavor just for the audiobook as well.

Some Great Stories

Loved the book - lots of funny stories, but what makes it really great is Bert reading it himself. Laughed out loud a lot during the listening and cried with Bert during the Georgia story at the end. All Dads can relate.
