Jim Gaffigan is at his self-deprecating best on Doing My Time, his live comedy special recorded in 2004. Gaffigan's humor captures the concerns of the everyman, as he riffs on topics such as how pale he is, the futility of blueberry picking, the manner of people from the Midwest, his wife's pregnancy, and regretting staying up late to watch Growing Pains. Throughout, Gaffigan hilariously pretends to be an audience member, whispering judgmental comments about his own act into the mic in amusing self-parody. At once incisive and endearing, Gaffigan's act will leave listeners in stitches.

"Gaffigan continuously keeps the audience laughing with what appears to be great ease, especially when discussing his Midwestern upbringing. Overall, an impressive debut and finally some respect for a comedian who is long overdue for larger-scale recognition." (Rob Theakston, All Music Guide)
I'm a huge Gaffigan fan and this is a great listen. If you have already heard Beyond the Pale there is some repetious material, but it's still worth the listen.
I found this album not nearly as funny as King Baby and Beyond the Pale. I was also extremely disappointed by all the F words and other inappropriate content. This is one Gaffigan album I won't be letting my kids listen to.
