This is a good program that reminded me of HHGTG and Dads Army. It is good British Humor.
Lacking the foul language of most modern humor it hits the funny bone with a silly and twisted look
at the Royal Navy somewhat like McHales Navy of the U.S. It is fantasy and more about the types of people we know and meet everyday. If you like The IT Crowd, Red Dwarf or any of the other great BritComs, you will like this crew, almost always in DEEP TROUBLE. (-:
Run Deep, Run Silent, Run Away...... (-:
"Laughed once in one hour, 52 minutes"
The narration is generally okay with the exception of the odd fake accent. Bonus points for the Russian in Episode 3. The writing is desperately unfunny, though.
There are some funny elements, but for me it would've needed a lot of rewriting. Maybe a term at the John Fennimore school of comedy?
Listening to this eventually gave me a slight headache. Eventually I decided to listen to Cabin Pressure for the eighteenth time instead. I will probably return this one to Audible as I cannot imagine any circumstance in which I would want to listen to it again.
I was disappointed. Perhaps other people will enjoy it more.
"If this is comedy then we are in deep trouble"
No, it is simplistic comedy reliant upon repetition of annoying mannerisms. Story lines are weak and it is as though the performers realise this and can't remedy it .
Not to buy season 2, if there ever is one.
If you like Cabin Pressure, you'll enjoy Deep Trouble. Beautifully written, excellent characters, and LOL funny - I've listened to it over and over. If only there were a third series. Try it.
The hapless Captain Wade "Heloooooooo"
Yes - and listened to repeatedly
"Very very funny"
So glad I went for this almost didn't as it had only 3.5 stars. The admirals visit was my favourite will definitely buy series 2. Can thoroughly recommend
I loved it it was hilarious and the captain was so funny
the most memorable moment was the crew sending all the journalists of the sub marine
"OK but it's no Navy Lark"
struggle to finish. some of the situations were funny but the execution was poor. Capt Wade was irritating, Lt Trainer just wasn't funny at all.
"Thanks heavens I found this"
After listening to Cabin Pressure about five times, I had given up finding anything to take its place. But I found this, and while not quite as brilliant (who could ever match Douglas !) this is extremely funny and very satisfying to listen to.
