Comedy Death Ray is where L.A.'s most passionate comedy fans congregate, and this crisp recording features the best of the best of the weekly comedy showcase, recorded in two different sessions: one at Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco in 2007, and the other at the Upright Citizens Bridge Theatre in L.A. in 2006. Hilarious performances come from a veritable crème de la crème of alternative comedy, including the likes of Mr. Show veterans David Cross and Paul F. Tompkins, Comedians of Comedy's Patton Oswalt and Maria Bamford, and The Office's Mindy Kaling. Two bonus tracks of comedian-audience interaction will make listeners feel like they're right there in the theater.

When it comes to audiobooks, literature is okay. Self help, educational and history books are great BUT nothing beats comedy! And overall, this book was super funny. Felt just like I was there at a comedy show. Warning: listening to this by yourself with the head phones on may make you look a little strange as everyone will look at you and wonder what the heck are you laughing at. It gives a new means to LOL!
I write reviews to help readers, not to win votes. My reviews are my honest opinion whether popular or not. I hope they help you. ;)
This is a collection of various comedians on what appears to be a special event for hardcore fans. A lot of the material is clearly the comedians working on new material, so a lot of it is not polished. It does, however give an interesting insight into the process that goes on creating comedy.
There are a few comics who's acts were polished, but it was the same material you already would have heard elsewhere. The stand outs are patton Oswalt, Maria Bamfort, Brian Poesen, and Doug Benson. The rest are hit or miss. One comedian I didn't know was the best . He had some great materials about shark attacks. If I knew who it was I'd buy his album.
A quick warning that the language is pretty raw and there is a lot of use of taboo topics as shock value style humor. if this offends you stay far away from this one.
This was one to wait for a sale as it isn't worth a full credit as it is so short.
There is no way...none short of total revision to the content to that which might appeal to a broader audience, one with much higher stantards
not wasting my money buying this book
yelling...filthy language..lack of content
After listening to this recording in it's entirety I would suggest putting in some jokes, you know ...funny material. You may ask ...were people laughing? Well yes but laughing at something that is disgusting or just weird does not constitute comedy. Ranting about your neurotic life is not the same as telling well crated jokes.I suppose well meaning crackheads may find this stuff amusing but then they are still crackheads, okay? There was one comedian who talked about shark attacks I appreciated but there was no identification of his name so I could give him credit. I give this audio recording two stars because of him.The reality is writing and performing comedy takes effort and creative input. Ranting about your life should be reserved for a therapist or a group of people who aren't even listening to what you say. So keep "Death" in the title and take out the word "Comedy". Thank you and good night!
