    Mark Twain of our time

Maybe that’s a stretch. Maybe not really. Just because Dave is unpretentious, we might not give him his due or accord him hero status. Other than the Beatles, no famous entertainment figure was admired as much in their own time as later. ( Unless there was Barry-mania and I missed it). Okay that’s not all correct.

This is one of many very entertaining DB books with now the added value of invoking nostalgia.

Dick Hill just can’t do comedic reading, way over the top. As with all but the very worst, listeners learn to accept the incongruity with practice.

    Timing affects reading

First, no one reads Dave Barry better than Dave Barry. While the performance was okay, it's much better when he narrates his own books. That said, the book was funny, but had I read it closer to the time it was published there would have been many more laughs. Read is you have a good memory, but if you don't, find a more current Barry.

    decent Barry book

this is a pretty decent book . the reader did a good job . I'd rather it was read by D B himself . the stories are pretty funny until the last few which get SERIOUS . I would recommend it .

Typical Dave Barry and that's a good thing.

Would you listen to Boogers Are My Beat again? Why?

I would definitely listen to this audio book again. It is nice to be able to be amused by the short essays and not have to be concerned with a lengthy story line sometimes.

    Any additional comments?

Dave Barry is always good for a laugh but the two serious essays regarding 9/11 are reminders that he can be a very fine, thoughtful, and inciteful author.
