Jim Hawkins, a young cabin boy battles the pirate Long John Silver for a buried treasure. One of the most frequently dramatized novels of all time. The influence of Treasure Island on popular perceptions of pirates is enormous, including treasure maps marked with an "X", schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen carrying parrots on their shoulders.

Any additional comments?
I'm sad to say that I was unable to listen to this audiobook. The story is a classic, so there are no surprises there. My problem is with the narration. The narrator has a wonderful voice, and in dialog passages his character voices are good, but most of the time his reading is painfully stilted. Instead of smoothly delivered exposition, the delivery stutters and jerks, with odd pauses everywhere.
I'll have to try again, find another version with better narration.
