Publisher's summary

The Two Towers is the second volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic saga, The Lord of the Rings.

The Fellowship has been forced to split up. Frodo and Sam must continue alone towards Mount Doom, where the One Ring must be destroyed. Meanwhile, at Helm’s Deep and Isengard, the first great battles of the War of the Ring take shape.

In this splendid, unabridged audio production of Tolkien’s great work, all the inhabitants of a magical universe - hobbits, elves, and wizards - spring to life. Rob Inglis’ narration has been praised as a masterpiece of audio.

Absolutely Wonderful!

A timeless classic brought to life. The narration of Rob Inglis brings unexpected warmth and depth to the tale of the battle for Middle Earth. Each character is brought to life through a unique voice. Highly recommended!

I loved it.

As all the others it was amazing. Better and different from the movie. I loved the detail. A few conversations carried on a bit, but I didn’t mind.
My one true complaint is in the performance. I love Rob Ingrid, but this book had a few issues.
1) I could hear talking and background noises from time to time. Also he didn’t do as well with keeping his character voices separate and consistent, but I still liked it overall.

My favorite of the trilogy, all due to the Ents!

This narrator does such a great job of switching from one voice to another, seamlessly, that I don't need to hear "said Frodo" to know it was Frodo who just spoke. I have the advantage that I never read the printed books so I don't have any preconceived notions of how something is pronounced.

My favorite characters are the Ents. I just love them and hence they alone made this story my favorite of the quest. Plus the 'perils' the main characters seemed to get in made so much more sense in this book.

Love those Ents who aren't hasty!

What A Classic!

Where does The Two Towers rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

How can I rate part 2 of this trilogy any less or greater than the others. Fantastic story and read well.

What did you like best about this story?

The hobbits escape and meeting TreeBeard

Which character – as performed by Rob Inglis – was your favorite?

I love how he voices Samwise.

Any additional comments?

The songs are the only part I prefer to skip. Just not my thing.

Gollum...Gollum...

The story is classic and has one of the best endings ever where I couldn't turn it off for the last 2 hours. The voice acting really brings it to life, especially Gollum, who sounds just as good as the movies, if not better. Great listen.

Well Narrated

Thankfully I have some familiarity with the story, due in no small part to the movies, however this novel especially seemed to be harder to follow. The tale continues though, and the story Tolkien wove is still as timeless as ever.
