Great Listen!

There is a reason that this book continues to fascinate even after a century...the greatest time traveller of all was H G Wells himself, taking himself into the future, to be read 3 generations after.

Very entertaining

I'm sure SJWs will want to ban this book for its use of "negro" and "savage", but those willing to overlook such language are in for a real treat.

Good story, horrible narrator

The narrator breaks in the middle of sentences and is horribly monotone. he seems very blase during the most exciting parts of the story.

The use of language. Forgotten now. Replaced by talking phones and lazy minds.

I know this story well. With this recording I found it hard to listen to. The reader attempted to do the voice of Capt James T Kirk. throwing commas and periods around willy-nilly. Very interesting. It unlikely I will listen to any other of his recordings.

Brief, classic, delightful

Outstanding classic piece. Incredibly short novel but covers several points in this changing plot. Now I need to go watch the classic movie to see how well it stacks up.

The story is a classic and one of the originals to the dystopian novel category.

Highly recommended. It’s and easy read or listen. I recommend listening at 1.25x since he has some pauses when reading.. I loved the story and I’m sad it’s over. He certainly could have made this a multi book story!

Good Story. Poor Narration.

Interesting story with good meta-nerative. Sadly, the narrators flat tones and strange cadence makes it feel more like a boring lecture than a fantastic story. The narrator has an amazing voice, but the aforementioned qualities overwhelm that fact.

Terrible Narrator

The narrator can't.... finish a single sentence... without pausing. It's terribly.... distracting. Sped up to 1.5x is more tolerable, but still very distracting. That combined with the fact that his voice is very monotone makes it very difficult to follow even though the content is clearly written. The story itself is well written, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Stilted, Unnatural Narration

The story itself is fantastic and well written. Wells' imagination was generations ahead of his time and this novella showcases his talent as a writer.

But I could not finish this recording. The narrator speaks in a flat, monotone voice and an awkward cadence. It's as if each word was recorded individually without context and then clumsily arranged into a sentence by the audio engineer; the experience is similar to listening to an AI give you directions on your GPS. It was unbearable to sit through.

Look for the John Banks recording of this story. His engaging performance brings the narrative to life.
