Simple magic tricks are what a little boy is looking for when he drags his father into a quaint, old shop. The proprietor seems to be a master of illusion - a genius at slight of hand. But, as the son becomes mesmerized, the father feels an icy hand grip his heart.

The story was a refreshing short story. I stumbled upon it by looking for my other 2 favorites by H.G. Wells. I went into the story not really expecting much since the story was very short compared to his other works but I was pleasantly surprised. The story drops you into the mind of a father and an experience with his son. The ending was not what I expected, but then after all I did not expect anything. This is a good story and expresses the mind of H.G. Wells a little bit more.
The narrator was very good. His expression in his voice are great and he does a very good job in separating out the characters. I will definitely be subscribing to his free story podcast from his website.

This is a very entertaining and fun story, involving a father and son and a Magic Shop.
B.J. does a great job
You do not get this kind of writing or simple enchantment in today's stories. Perfect for the young and young at heart, and above all, perfect for those who believe in true magic.
The audio quality left a little to be desired, but for the price, I'm not complaining. If you're a fan of The Twilight Zone, you've gotta hear this story. If you're a fan of short stories, you've gotta hear this story. If you're a person with imagination, you've gotta hear this story.
Excellent narration of this very short story. I found myself wishing it were longer as it was fun, interesting, and well written...but somehow left me wanting more, story-wise.
Word loving college student with a 2+ hour daily commute, who sadly had to learn to accept that reading and driving are plainly incompatible
While short, this tale is a wonderful story about fantasy, magic, and childhood. It is expertly narrated by B.J. Harrison and a prefect display of Well's talents as a fantasy/sci-fi writer. If you are looking for something small to ingest on the go, The Magic Shop would do you well.
