    Story
"Hard to believe was written almost 200 years ago"

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a such a great short(ish) story. The descriptions of the people, scenery, and life in the Hudson valley were excellent. Then there's that neat and very ambiguous supernatural element in it as well.

I read this story back in high school eons ago. Loved it then, love it now. It almost feels contemporary despite its age.

Btw, reading it again made me realise the Disney version of this got the look of Ichabod Crane just right.

    "A great story"
What made the experience of listening to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow the most enjoyable?

It was short and so I could listen to it with few breaks.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ichabod because he thinks he's got it all figured out on how to get the girl.

What does Curtis Sisco bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's a good storyteller. His reading is fluid and easy to follow. He pronounces the words well and doesn't make awkward pauses like other narrators sometimes do.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    A twist at the end

    Any additional comments?

This was a good story that is about middle school level. It's not particularly one that I feel my 7 year old could follow, but a story I plan to share with him in the future.

"The Good Ones Never Get Old"
If you could sum up The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in three words, what would they be?

    Entertaining, humorous, lively

What other book might you compare The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to and why?

Like Rip Van Winkle, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow gives an enchanting view into the dynamics of everyday life in colonial times.

What about Curtis Sisco’s performance did you like?

Sisco does a splendid job giving distinct voices to each of the characters and does so with attention to the story flow.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Listening to this book brings back happy memories of being read the story as a child. I couldn't help but laugh at the foibles of the character.

    Any additional comments?

As you can tell from my earlier comments, I am quite enthusiastic about this experience. If you purchase this version, you will be, too.

    "speed reader"

I loved the story, but there were times I felt the reader was running the words together trying to read them quickly. overall it is a great short story to fill the time.

"Reads like an old public service announcement."

Which was charming in one sense, but off-putting in another. Such a story needs more inflection than an old school-time video would require, to teach on puberty or dating etiquette.

"Good Story -- just seemed to lack something"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes -- everyone should read or listen to this classic

Who was your favorite character and why?

I've always been fond of Braum Bones

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I probably should have bought a performance version and not a straight reading. It seemed very dull and didn't get a sense of excitement from the narrator.

"how in the Heck is this considered a classic"

I expected a good story, not imaginations running wild over the darkness. Very disappointed in a story I always wanted to hear

    Story
    "choppy and difficult to comprehend"
What disappointed you about The Legend of Sleepy Hollow?

This might be a wonderful story, but I would not know with this narration. I think the automated reader on my original Kindle would have been easier to comprehend than this.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Swiss Family Robinson

What didn’t you like about Curtis Sisco’s performance?

I couldn't follow the story because the narration didn't flow--broken thoughts and ideas.

    "can't expect quality for $1"

the reading was very monotone and so boring. the story itself is a classic I can't be mad at it but the reader could have done better. you can't really expect quality for under a dollar

    "A classic worth reading"
If you could sum up The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in three words, what would they be?

    Descriptive, interesting, classic

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ichabod Crane - very well drawn and not designed to be particularly likable.

What aspect of Curtis Sisco’s performance might you have changed?

His performance wasn't bad, but I wasn't bowled over. I suppose there wasn't much of a chance for him to "put on voices" as there wasn't much dialogue.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was relatively short, so I listened to it in two sittings (perhaps "walkings" is more fitting) over the course of one day. It was good enough to warrant one sitting.
