    "Awesome listening experience"

Never had a better listening experience. Rob Inglis took a wonderful story and made it magical for me. If you have never read The Hobbit...you should really listen to this production. If you already love The Hobbit.....you will love it twice as much after you listen to this.

    "TIMELESS!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Hobbit to be better than the print version?

It's been YEARS since I read the novel and wanted to go through the book again before I saw the Peter Jackson rendition at the theater. After reading many positive reviews I decided to go the audiobook route and wasn't disappointed at all. I actually listened to it hours at a time while on vacation sitting outside several nights by a fire. Audiobooks always seem better when I listen to them sitting outside puffing on a cigar. If you like dark nights, a good cigar (or 2) and a good audiobook , then I highly recommend this version of The Hobbit.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bilbo was the one character I related to the most.

What does Rob Inglis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

These old stories always sound better with a British accent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I always hate to have these stories end, especially when I've got at least 30 - 40 minutes to go on my cigar.

    Any additional comments?

Like some other reviews stated, I thought the narrator was a little too cheerful in his presentation. I felt that there were times throughout the story that required a darker tone. This is a minor issue though.

    "AMAZING"
What made the experience of listening to The Hobbit the most enjoyable?

Of course when I found out that there was going to be a movie about the hobbit i just had to get the book and listen to it before i go see the movie. The book was fantastic I've listen to it three times in the past couple months and have enjoyed it immensely. This is now my new favorite book to listen to. Great story and narrated very well.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bilbo was my favorite. He started out as a normal person who just wanted to be left alone and was content with that. As he went on his adventure and was introduced to new things it transformed him into a hero.

Which character – as performed by Rob Inglis – was your favorite?

He played Smaug very well. Always enjoyed that part of the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I always enjoyed the part were Bilbo was teasing the spiders and showed the dwarfs the bravery he could posses.

"A new way to enjoy this old favorite story"
Where does The Hobbit rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the top audiobooks I have listened to.

What does Rob Inglis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The retelling of this story with the poems recited and the songs sung by Rob Inglis was a pleasure to hear.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, I have read and re-read this story since the early 70's, although it has been some years since I last did so.

    "Rob Inglis is fabulous"

Unlike The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I listened to this with all my kids and they just love Rob Inglis' narration of the cast of characters , he even shines in singing. Fell in love with Bilbo Baggins and had to listen again.

    yes, if it recorded better

Do you think The Hobbit needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    It has 4.

If you could sum up The Hobbit in three words, what would they be?

    Magical, adventerous, nostalgic

What other book might you compare The Hobbit to and why?

I think Bilbo Baggins can be compared to any hero/heroine that doesn't see themselves as such. Harry Potter has been all the rage in my house for more than 10 years and he struggles with the same self doubt that Bilbo does-all the while conquering evil!

Have you listened to any of Rob Inglis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

What do the Misty Mountains hold?...

"Great story to have read to you"
What did you love best about The Hobbit?

I admit I can't read Tolkien. I've tried, several times, but I just can't get the hang of his writing style. However, having someone else read the book to you is a whole different story and it was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the narration.
