Publisher's summary

Inspired by The Hobbit and begun in 1937, The Lord of the Rings is a trilogy that J.R.R. Tolkien created to provide "the necessary background of history for Elvish tongues". From these academic aspirations was born one of the most popular and imaginative works in English literature.

The Fellowship of the Ring, the first volume in the trilogy, tells of the fateful power of the One Ring. It begins a magnificent tale of adventure that will plunge the members of the Fellowship of the Ring into a perilous quest and set the stage for the ultimate clash between the powers of good and evil.

In this splendid, unabridged audio production of Tolkien's great work, all the inhabitants of a magical universe – hobbits, elves, and wizards – step colorfully into life. Rob Inglis' narration has been praised as a masterpiece of audio.

The book is better than the movie

I've never really thought the movies were incomplete but after reading the book I realized how sad the movie actually is. I like this story better.

fantastic story and delivery.

My only regret is that I binged too hard and now have to wait for my next credit to move on to Towers.

Amazing narrator! I can't wait to hear more!

I really enjoyed hearing this book read. I never had much interest in reading this book, but listening to it was AWESOME! The narrator kept the perfect pace. sometimes the voices could be hard to tell apart but once I got used to it, I really enjoyed it.

Fun, fun fun!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Fellowship of the Ring to be better than the print version?

Yes, most definitely. It was hard for me to get into the print version and the audio made it so much easier!

What other book might you compare The Fellowship of the Ring to and why?

Maybe Narnia (ironic, I know). The worlds are somewhat reminiscent of each other.

What does Rob Inglis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Rob sings, he does the voices, he brings the characters to life. It's so easy just to sit back and let him bring the story to you.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL. Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

Any additional comments?

I didn't love the book, but I really enjoyed myself. I think I'll give it another shot some time in the future to allow myself to fall in love with it. I do in fact, adore the movie though. I can see why Tolkien is so monumental in the fantasy genre- this book really does have it all.

FANTASTIC!

This performance is top notch! Obviously, Lord of the Rings is a wonderful piece of literature, but the narrator makes it so thoroughly engaging and entertaining that it’s even harder to put down. So glad to have found it!

Great book

Great book, well performed. The narrator does a good job with the different voices, though the singing gets old quickly. Overall, still, a very enjoyable story.
