Publisher's summary

Having inspired a classic film and Broadway play, The Caine Mutiny is Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life—and mutiny—on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater. It was immediately embraced upon its original publication as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of the Second World War. In the intervening half century, this gripping story has become a perennial favorite, selling millions throughout the world, and claiming the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

Consistent, Not a dull moment!

I loved every moment of this. I became a Caine crew member. Excellently done. Superb

Outstanding, Can't Believe I Waited So Long

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The reader was fantastic and kept you into an already classic book. I loved the character development, you knew the players inside and out.

Which scene was your favorite?

The Strawberry Incident

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The book is approximately 26 hours, so its very difficult to read in one sitting. If I could have, I would have.

Any additional comments?

Highly recommended. One of the best narrations I have heard.

Loooooooooong but Kept Me Interested

Not your typical WWII story. Interesting characters and likable (minus one or two) and the story moved right along.

Brilliant story, good narration

Crafty and intelligent plot and character development. Rich language and metaphors. Narration is excellent except for May’s voice, which always sounds too male. That affectation works well for the mother, Mrs. Keith, but lacks a feminine sweetness for the voice of May. Overall, a fantastic and enjoyable experience!

Entertaining

I enjoyed all of works of Wouk, but this one was especially entertaining as I was also in the U.S. Navy. Woke is a wonderful story teller!

A classic

I was probably influenced by Humphry Bogart and his mates in the classic movie when reading the book, but it exceeded my expectations. The Keith - May Wynn romance was not, in my opinion, up to par with the rest of the action, but that did not distract from the overall enjoyment of the boom

A classic with powerful story

Narrator added great depth to the story. Truly enjoyable. Much more informative than the movie.

The Caine Mutiny

Loved the story and presentation. Read several European Theater WWII historical novels and was thoroughly pleased with this Pacific front novel. Now want to watch the Humphrey Bogart movie.

Naval terms

In a great performance the glaring pronunciation of Forecastle was jarring

Foc’sel. Or Fohk’sel. But definitely not Fore Castle…
