A gentleman, with the aid of a close female companion, investigates a hidden disturbance within his unconscious. This acclaimed classic short story is rendered in perfect Jamesian fashion by narrator Jonathan Epstein.

If, for a moment, you need to get away from our present "Age of Anxiety" I highly recommend this brilliant recording of another one.
Jonathan Epstein's narration is nothing less than miraculous. He reads the "Beast" with clarity and kindness. He has a fine voice and knows just how to read James. He modulates skillfully. When I read this marvelous story years ago I wrestled endlessly with the Jamesian language and just didn't understand the portent. Now I do. This time, rather than suffering with "The Jamesian Language" I found it delicious. The musical insertions leant an added dimension to the pleasure of the experience and I am grateful for this wonderful recording. Bravo!
