Twain called this story a "hymn to boyhood". Loved by all ages in countless renditions in all media. A classic piece of American literature.

The narrator did a good job... Spoke clearly and all. I was just spoiled because I listened to Elijah Wood's Huck Finn first and it can't be compared.
Curtis Sisco does a fine job on reading the classic Twain story. He captures the accents and tone of the area and time period. I haven't read the book since I was a child and found it to be surprisingly adult even though it was written for kids. Because of the price it's the perfect book to test if you are new to audio books.
Tom's aunt was my favorite because as a parent I sympathized with her every thought. The joy and pain of raising a child (especially one like Tom) is all worth it in the end.
It's been done before so wait to rent the DVD.
As an adult I enjoyed listening to this classic. Sisco is really good with the characters' voices, but in the general narration he reads quickly and somewhat mechanically. This version is at least an hour shorter than the next shortest Tom Sawyer audiobook because of Sisco's fast pace. I'd hoped to have the illusion that Twain himself was reading to me, with a languid sly drawl. But this narration was a little bit stiff.
I bought this for my granddaughter. She was having a little trouble with reading the book herself and I told her that a audio book might help her to engage in the story. She is 11. She really enjoys the story and follows along with the book.
I am not sure.
I thought I lost the audio on the computer and I tried to find it with no success and downloaded another from a different company. I was so excited when I was able to recover this one because the narrator makes or breaks enjoying a audiobook. Curtis Sisco is an awesome narrator. Thank you Curtis:)
It keeps your attention.
Thank you for having this book available.
Yes, as I wasn't motivated in the past to read any classics until I got hooked on audio books.
Really? Huck Finn of course
Like a few others, I was drawn into Mark Twain with the reading of Huck Finn by Elijah Wood. I really wish Elijah Wood read Tom Sawyer too. It was difficult to decide on who to select for Tom Sawyer. I also have the audio version by Grover Gardner. Grover is a good narrator but not so good at voices characters. Curtis Sisco is VERY good at voice characterizations but his narration is mechanical or stiff and a little fast. Switching between the two I finally settled on Curtis. You get used to him and he makes up for in the the variety and reflections in the voices.
I listened to Huck Finn first which is a great novel. I had read that Tom Sawyer was good but Huck Finn was Mark's best. Now I'm not so sure. I thought Tom Sawyer was a better story. There was more satire and more intrigue than Huck Finn. Mark Twain is a wonderful story teller. I wish more kids would read his books to see what a boyhood was like in the late 1800s.
Give this book a listen. I think Cisco is the best narrator for Tom Sawyer. After that, jump into Huck Finn with Elijah Wood. I've already added another Mark Twain book to my library.
I had to listen to this book for school and I thought I would hate it but I really liked it! I've already finished it and I'm only supposed to be on chap. 20!!! My favorite part was when Becky and Tom got stuck in the cave!!! I also liked the narrator because he could switch to a girl or a boy and he really made the story come to life!!!!
I give every book and author a chance. I like books that grab you and evoke an emotional response.
Never read the print version.
Obviously Huckleberry Finn.
Better southern accent like the narrator I heard with Huck Finn. In these books, I want the narrator in the book to sound like Mark Twain.... :)
Really just a fun look at boyhood and human nature during the time period in the South.
Tom Sawyer is a fun book, but Huck Finn is a masterpiece in my opinion.
