Shakespeare's tragic tale of the tormented prince of Denmark, his failure to avenge his father's murder, and his descent into madness is stirringly retold by award-winning author Leon Garfield. Read by Simon Russell Beale - who has spent many seasons with the RSC in such plays as The Tempest, King Lear, and Richard III - this striking reinterpretation will delight both those who know and love the works of Shakespeare and those who have yet to discover them.

I have several copies of "Hamlet: the Animated Tales" by Garfield in text form for my students and thought perhaps the audio version would be the same as the text, and the students could follow along. It isn't. Be wary if that's your purpose, too, for purchasing this. I wish there was a way I could get a preview of it, like you can with Kindle books, but that wouldn't be fully helpful because while their introduction is word for word with Shakespeare bio in the text, the rest of the audio doesn't match it, and you have no way of knowing that unless you purchase it. Now I have to figure out if I can return it, even though I skipped ahead to check out if other chapters did the same thing. The reading is superb, though. No complaints there, just my purposes were not served.
Didn't listen to it in its entirety due to my review above.
