Classic!

Believe it or not, I had never actually read Pride and Prejudice. It was always on my list, but somehow never got around to it. I loved this audiobook and was sucked right into the story. It made my 45 minute commute fly right by each day. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the scenes,
I never expected this to be so humorous. The narration was just great, although sometimes I had to listen very carefully to tell which character was speaking. Mostly I had no trouble based on the different inflection and voice character. Now I will have to start watching some of the many movie versions of this book.

loved it.

I've read the book many times, but it was equally enjoyable listening to it while I did other things. It's very well narrated, and the sound quality is excellent. no complaints about this title.

Drop what you're doing

This audiobook brings home the fun of reading a Jane Austin book but in an audio format. The narrator, Kate Reading, does the voices very convincingly. I usually listen before I go to bed at night or when out walking, but I found myself just sitting and listening to this one. I would definitely download other books read by Kate Reading.

Wonderful

This wonderful classic is well read by this narrator who keeps the pace perfect and the characters distinctive. I have listened to this version several times and get involved each time. It's a pleasure to have a narrator embrace the writing style of Austen and read it so it comes to life. There is an art to reading Austen aloud almost as much as the art to reading Shakespeare aloud. This was the best narrator for this classic, in my opinion.

Better than great

In my opinion, Pride and Prejudice is the best book ever written by anyone at any time, and the Pride and Prejudice movie (with Colin Firth) is the best movie ever made. The Kate Reading audible version of Pride and Prejudice is the only version I have heard, but I rank this audible book at the very top of all that I have heard. I first read Pride and Prejudice in college (in an English novels class) and fell in love with Jane Austen's writing. I have read and re-read every book she has ever written, but this one is still my favorite. It is the greatest love story every told. I believe Elizabeth Bennett is the most intersting and likable character ever created - Mr. Darcy is the most compelling and romantic character ever created. Lady Bennett is an extremely unlikable and embarrassing character (but she is a well drawn by the author). My teenage grandson laughs about Mr. Collins (a truly riduculous person) and his Lady Katherine (what a woman!). There are many other characters of different types who come alive in this book and whom you will always remember.
The wriing is so exquisite - the sentences so very well crafted - the characters so believable and recognizable - the story so well and artfully told - that since I first read Pride and Prejudice it has been the yard stick by which I have judged all books. Jane Austen has a wonderful sense of humor, a romantic heart and an extrordinary talent for writing - she is at her best in Pride and Prejudice. This audible version does justice to the story and Austen's writing. Ther reader does not try to upstage Austen. Very very well done.

You can't read just one!

Probably my first introduction to Jane Austen was through A & E's mini-series version of this book; and from that moment on, I was hooked! I own the Pride and Prejudice mini-series on both VHS and DVD, I have 2 books (one paperback, one hard), and now the unabridged audio version (not to mention all the other JA books and movies I own). Although I could not help but compare the narrator to the most excellent A&E version, the narrator did a wonderful job.

I'm in school and have but little time; yet 'reading' such wonderful books makes a long drive so much the better. Just be cautious, reading any Jane Austen book will have you wishing to write long letters to all your acquaintances, using words like 'importune' and 'disinterested'. I beg you should read it; you will be highly diverted.

Fantastic narration

The book is, of course, terrific. In this reading, it finally has a narrator worthy of it. One of the best narrations of any of the many books I've heard from Audible. There were times when I laughed out loud.

Wonderful story that never grows old.

I've always loved the "Pride and Prejudice" book. Relaxing and fun to go into another time when things were quite different from our modern, sometimes hectic life.

Kate Readings naration was perfect and helped make the book even more enjoyable. I didn't think that was possible!

Spectacular!

Not only is this classic a fascinating story, but the dramatization of the reader is performed with amazing skill. It was a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend 12 hours!
