Peter Pan is one of those histories you must read. I have seen some movies but, as usual, nothing compares to the book. J.M. Barrie was able to capture the children essence and transfer it to a character wich you will love.
The narrator, is not bad, but it lacks the emotion to make the critical parts as good as they are.
An old broad that enjoys books of all types. Would rather read than write reviews though. I know what I like, and won't be bothered by crap.
Yes, I would! Mr. Barrie has such a sly way with words and I'm sure I missed some of his meanings. It's a great story and I loved it!
When Peter comes back after many years and finds Wendy all grown up. I think we can all feel for him.
He does great characters. I especially loved his Lost Boys!
I'll Never Grow UP!
Loved this story, but it isn't the Disney version many people are used to. The story is closer to the musical by Mary Martin or Cathy Rigby. The story is fine for children but they won't get alot of what Barrie is trying to say about adults and children in an imaginative way.
Peter Pan is a wonderful story. I am amazed at how well written it is.
My 5 year old daughter has been listining to this in the evenings and it keeps her attention.
I have always liked the story of Peter Pan, but I had only seen the movies and play until I downloaded this book. I always felt that something was left out. Now that I have listened to the audio book version of the story, I realize that I should have read it long ago. I feel like I have found a part of my childhood that was lost and forgotten. If you enjoy listening to great stories you should definitely listen to this one.
Peter Pan is not the playful Peter Pan you see in plays. Peter Pan is quite frightening and violent. The reader is wonderful. We will be putting this story away for a few years until my son is a bit older.
We were introduced to Jim Dale's talent through the Harry Potter series. He is absolutely wonderful reading this classic as well.
Excellent read. Too bad it was only 5 hours, barely a half work week drive for me. However, Jim Dale rocked and the it was like hearing the story again for the first time!
I was pleasantly surprised with Jim Dale's performance in this Audiobook. And of course the story itself is timeless and Always enjoyable for all ages.
I never tire of hearing Jim Dale read a book. After listening to the Harry Potter books multiple times, I found Peter Pan and was throughly impressed all over again with Jim's reading ability. It is definitely a must-listen if you enjoy adventure stories read by a suburb narrator.
brilliantly read, jim dale is able to create he most calming and relaxing atmosphere as though he is telling the story to a child.
"Too graphic and just plain silly"
J.M. Barry's story of the boy who wouldn't grow up has always enchanted me. However I have to say that the book has let me down. I know the films and TV versions never skirted the fact of the killing that happened on the island, but the book is just brutal. This story is quite graphic and vivid, I am only thankful Barry didn't go any further. Some of the things like peter tickling stars on his way to never land were just plain daft. This is not a book I would recommend to young or impressionable children. The only thing that made the whole thing bearable to listen to, and may induce me to listen to the story again, was the fact that Jim Dale read it.
