"Don't be fooled by the title of this seriocomic ode to success; it's not 'Climb Every Mountain,' kid version. All journeys face perils, whether from indecision, from loneliness, or worst of all, from too much waiting. Seuss' familiar pajama-clad hero is up to the challenge, and his odyssey is captured vividly....Seuss' message is simple but never sappy: life may be a 'Great Balancing Act,' but through it all 'There's fun to be done.'" My taste differs from kid books to gory horror books.
Probably the best 7 minutes, I have listened to. The motivational words, read by the great John Lithgow, with stirring music, is just what you need to lift your spirits and get you ready for the day, the week, for life. Often a gift for graduation, it motivates and tells it like it is. Listen to it everyday on the way to work and it may make your days better.
My 5-6 year-old son loves the narration. We have the book, but as English is not my first language, I wanted a good narration. And this is a very good one, very entertaining, with nice sound effects.
The book is pretty short. What I've done several times is I open the book, put the audio, and move through the pages while it's being narrated.
John Lithgow is reading a book by Dr. Seuss! What more could you ask for?
Lithgow's narration of Dr. Seuss' immortal verse was excellent, but my appreciation was totally was marred by the music and effects which were often at least as loud as the narration itself. Did they not think that the power of Seuss' words in the hands of a capable narrator (which Lithgow certainly is, don't get me wrong) would be suficient, tasty they had to cover it up with so many annoying bells and whistles?
This book is a book that I have purchased and given to people many times. I have given this book to children, as well as people well over their retirement age! It contains wisdom that is concentrated, precise, concise, simple, and gets easily absorbed by your mind. It helps to quickly "ground" and encourage anyone. The book is "short and sweet" as they say! Now that I've discovered this spectacular audio version of the book, I expect that I will wind up purchasing many audio copies of the book as well! This audio version is the best that I've ever heard. Such a blessing to be able to listen to this book while you do something else physically (like for those automobile trips or commutes. This helps the book's subject matter to enter the conscious and subconscious mind in a much more enjoyable and refreshing manner.
All the things said have been within me. It hits my issues straight on and lets me know I can move past them to my 98 & 3/4 % guarantee for success! Thank you Dr Seuss!
Well, it's as deep as "The Giving Tree", a smidge less fanciful than "Green Eggs and Ham" but has a happier and less confused perspective than "Are You My Mother?"...
The Feet in my Shoes.
Both continually for the last 27 years. O_o
I absolutely LOVE this book read by John Lithgow. I listen to it often. I highly recommend this book to everyone from 5-105 yrs old.
