Written and published in two parts in 1868 and 1869, the novel tells the story of a year in the life of the March family. We hear of their troubles and joys and come to sympathise with each character: maturing Meg, gifted Jo, gentle Beth and lively Amy, as they extend their kindness to all around them.
Louisa May Alcott (1832 - 1888) was an American novelist.
Please note: This is a vintage recording. The audio quality may not be up to modern day standards.
This "unabridged" edition ENDS after part 1. Beth is still alive, Jo is unattached, etc. This is only Volume ONE of Little Women; and Volume Two is not available from this narrator. Note that this edition is 10 hours, whereas the COMPLETE unabridged editions are all 18 hours or more. If you want the complete book, not just the first half, DO NOT BUY this edition.
As noted above: this unabridged book is only the 1st have a a wonderful book.
I did not read the reviews and found it very disappointing to only have 1/2 of a book.
I plan to contact Audible and inform them of this matter and hopefully it will be removed.

I selected this version by listening to the samples - had I focused on the relative length I would have noticed that this is just Part I! I really enjoyed it until it abruptly ended with Meg's engagement. I wish I could have the second half by the same reader, but as it is I feel cheated!
I very much enjoyed the narrator's reading of this wonderful classic. As other reviewers have noted, however, it is misleading to say the recording is "unabridged." This misleading labeling should be corrected. I would have purchased a different edition if I'd realized only the first half of the book is included here.
Another example of a book everyone has to read once before they die. It's well worth the price to hear the heart warming story the March family.
