Publisher's summary

Little Men brilliantly extends the March family saga begun in Louisa May Alcott's classic Little Women. Jo---now married to the good-natured Professor Bhaer and with sons of her own---has become the unflappable matron of an extended family at Plumfield, a school that the Bhaers have founded with Aunt March's legacy. Jo's rambunctious youngsters grow up in an atmosphere full of high spirits and misadventure---a world enlivened by Alcott's unique powers of observation and sympathy.

Narrated well.

As expected, Louisa May Alcott never disappoints. Easy to listen, descriptive, and a great follow up to little Women.

Justine also beautifully narrated this book - giving my imagination the chance to live in a another world. I loved going through it.

Plummy Follow Up to Little Women

I haven't read Little Men since I was a teen so when I spotted this audiobook edition on sale and narrated by the fabulous Justine Eyre, I had to do a re-read.

Little Men is a follow-up tale to Louisa May Alcott's famous Little Women.

At the end of Little Women, Jo March inherited Plumfield in the event of her great-aunt's passing. She is newly married to her Professor Bhaer and they determine to turn Plumfield into a boy's school. Little Men begins perhaps five years after that with the dream a reality. The story follows the lives of the children of Plumfield and the rest of the extended March clan. Told in everyday vignettes of the happenings at Plumfield after the appearance of a new orphaned boy, Nat.

I enjoyed the boisterous boys plus Daisy, Nan, and little Bess with the Bhaers, their staff, and occasionally Laurie. The tales are tender, fun, sometimes sad especially when Dan comes along as the hard boy that Jo has to work hard to bring into the fold. I knew what was coming at the end and yes, I sobbed my eyes out, but the very end is a happy, joyful finally scene.

Little Men is meandering and has no crisp, tight central plot. It is a collection of connected stories about the children, mostly, with the adults there to guide, comfort, love, and keep them on the straight and narrow. But, its a wonderful, heartwarming book and I loved the way Justine Eyre gave voice to all those boys, girls, and adults so that they were easily distinguished. I will definitely be revisiting this one.

an amazing piece of work

I listened to this while mowing the grass, and I never looked forward to a chore as much as I have so far this summer! Truly a wonderful story for a mother and for children, both boys and girls, with hilarious and sobering tales migled throughout

Little Men

Little Men takes place where little women left off. It tells the story of Jo and her professor and the adventures of the children at Plum field. As in little women I love how there's always stories within stories. The characters are also well-developed that you can't help falling in love with them.
