The best part is the undramatized reading by Marescotti. A real pleasure to listen to the Italian. Unfortunately this is undermined by the attempts to dramatize the poem. Instead of giving a simple narrative reading of the poem, the voices of the characters are put in a different voice. Virgil, for instance, sounds like he is in an echo chamber.
How wonderful it would be it Marescotti gave a straight reading of the Comedy. I have to return to my old recording by Albertazzi and others.
