Publisher's summary

Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare’s most compelling Roman plays. The plot against Caesar and the infamous assassination scene make for unforgettable listening. Brutus, the true protagonist of the play, is mesmerizing in his psychological state of anguish, forced to choose between the bonds of friendship and his desire for patriotic justice.

Sounded like an old radio drama

Is there anything you would change about this book?

no.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Most interesting - Killing Caesar. The least - the story that followed

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

It was okay but the differentiation between the characters was weak.

Do you think Julius Caesar needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. He's dead.

Any additional comments?

I just read this book to remember what I read in school and it was cheap and I needed to kill some time before I get my next credit. It was an okay read.

Excellent Performance, But Hampered By Visual Nature

This was an excellent dramatization, with a full cast and sound effects. It’s Shakespeare, so it’s obviously classic.

The only real issue is that, without the visual aid of actors on stage or the text itself, it can be confusing as to whom is speaking, especially in the more crowded scenes. Some of the actors have enough lines or distinct enough voices that you can recognize them, but it’s much more difficult keeping track of the lesser characters.

Other than that, it’s an excellent work.

Great performance. Tip: download the book and read it while listening

To follow the play most effectively, download a copy of the book (you can get on for free drop project Gutenberg), and read it while the narrators perform the play.

Extraordinary Performances

Completely electric production of an already amazing story. Everybody in the cast is killing it here. Great use of sound effects without being overbearing. This second listening, four years later and understanding more about how to parse the language, I think I appreciated the play more. Probably one of my favorite audiobooks (audio dramas?) of all time. [AUDIBLE]

good listen

Overall a good listen... The story is timeless, though the dialogue was a bit harder to follow in this version.

Great for Students

I'm a high school teacher, and this was helpful for my students. Several students commented that they enjoyed the performance and that it helped them to understand the play.
