An Introduction to Audio Books

What a wonderful journey! I flew through this book. Not only was Verne's story engaging and exciting, Jack Sondericker's reading was immensely enjoyable--entertaining, full of vigor, unique voices for each character. This was a fantastic introduction to the world of audio books.

A journey you have never heard

If you have seen the movies of Hollywood to the same name you will learn more about geology in this book than the adventure you have seen. The story here enclosed is quite a trip that may be far more believed than that of Hollywood. In this book you will feel for the characters and learn a thing or two. Jules Verne has a unique way of story telling but at times you may get lost in dreams and reality. The narrator is quite talented in his portrayal of the characters but listen carefully when harry is talking or you just might get lost. in the center of the earth.

Great book, average narration

What other book might you compare Journey to the Center of the Earth to and why?

It is similar in style, subject, and plot to the Mysterious Island and the Lost World, likely because they are from the same time period.

Any additional comments?

The narrator gets a bit too dramatic sounding when there isn't really a reason to. It seems like he wanted to make the science references less dry, but it sounded out place to me. Otherwise, I liked his narration.

Wonderful book, fantastic narrator

This classic was really brought to life with passion by the narrator. You do have to bear in mind that about 5 hours alone are taken up in just the journeying, but it's nevertheless a great adventure.

Classic Is Not A Synonym For Excellence

Overall I give it 3-stars. Narration gets 5-stars, and story gets 2.5 stars. Boring, uneventful, no intrigue or excitement. Though the author went into great detail in the story I did not find anything in it worth the irreplaceable time I have spent on the book. Save for the narration, I found it uninteresting and would have been better off not having read it at all.
