In New York, he founded the Cuban Revolutionary Party and made an uncertain living as a newspaper correspondent, teacher, translator, and diplomat. Included here are his poems and prose of love and friendship, freedom and exile, eternity, and the essence of childhood from Versos Sencillos, Poesias Dispersas, La Edad de Oro, Tres Héroes, Los Zapaticos de Rosa, Los Dos Principes, and Cada Uno en su Oficio.
