Fairy Tales Oscar Wilde

Audible does not list out each separate story in this collection so I can not simply play the one story I like but must skip or search through this book. There is no table of contents or identification of specific story, narrator, etc. This is a huge drawback.

Not Oscar Wilde’s original text

These are not Oscar Wilde’s fairytales as originally they were written, but retellings stripped of all the beautiful prose that made the stories so enchanting to begin with. Entire swathes of the stories are removed to make them more plain and concise, which violates the artistic vision of an author who championed beauty for beauty’s sake. What a disappointment. I will be returning this audiobook.

Twee

I was happy to find that the adjective "twee" is still in use and even in the Urban Dictionary. It is exactly the word to describe these stories. The narration is just as sappy.

sad

What was most disappointing about Oscar Wilde’s story?

his morbid approach. i found the story line to be bad and not to my taste

How could the performance have been better?

change the material. After listening to Centerville Ghost, i thought Oscar Wilde would be a great listen. but i was sadly mistaken.

I'm sorry, this was not for me...

I expected to love this and it fell flat for me. I love the actors, but I went through a few of the stories and I just wasn't feeling it. It would be great if the stories were listed by chapter, but they are not. I am glad for Audible's return policy and I will be getting some other Oscar Wilde stories for the same price.
