Lucy wrote that Anne is an extension of herself and represents the independent, "new" woman of the emerging 20th century. Individualistic, resourceful, and of a great humanitarian heart, she remains a great role model for girls and women today.

This classic is one for all ages. It takes the reader back to a simpler time and tells a story of self-discovery and the union of an orphan with an older, quiet couple and the enrichment they bring to each other in a beautifully touching way. Not to be missed!
In pursuit of truth, justice, and an end to spoilers!
I liked this book as a child but loved it even more as an adult! Timeless and endearing, it was pure sunshine to hear. Listening to this soothed nerves I hadn't realized were frazzled.
It's not often you can go back to a book you liked from long ago and find it's even better than you remember. Montgomery transports you completely to another age and time, and you bring back nothing but smiles! Recommended for red heads, romantics, curmudgeons, and readers of all shapes and sizes.
The narrator is perfect. I wouldn't want to hear the rest of Anne's tales from another reader, so I'll seek out all of Shelley Frasier's versions I can find!
Great book. Great reader. An annual listen for me, and a recurring listen for our 9 year old who has been listening to this story for more than 2 years. Both of us give it high recommendations.
I remember reading this book when I was a child and smiling from ear to ear as I read. Anne does not disappoint I laughed and smiled with Anne through her ups and downs as I recently listened as an adult. This book is a must listen.
The performance was adorable, the story was cute as all get out and I remembered why I liked it. It helps me to be happy about the small things and to be thankful for the loves and life I have.
LOVED THIS AUDIOBOOK!!! I did love the Anne of Green Gable series as a child and have listened to all of the audiobooks available and can say without a doubt, the Shelly Frasier narration is the absolute best! Her voice brings into the story like none of the others does. Susan O'Malley's is good too, but again, this Shelly Frasier narration is the best of them all!
I originally started reading this book as an assignment, but once I started I couldn't put it down. This is an interesting well written book. I look forward to reading the other Anne of ... books as a liesure read and not an assignment.
I hadn't read Anne of Green Gables for quite a few years, and it was a real pleasure to meet Anne, with an 'e' again. The reader was very good and I would highly recommend this book to all those who enjoyed reading about Anne in years gone by or to those who haven't had the pleasure!!!
I only wish that Audible had the entire series! I would love to start listening to Anne of Avonlea
I loved this. I had forgotten how fabulous the book is. I got it to listen to with my grand daughter (age 11). She enjoyed some of it, but it was not altogether to her current taste. Being very much of the movie generation and having seen the movie, she wanted the book to be the same. But I enjoyed every moment of it. A lovely classic beautifully read. One I am sure I will listen to again and again.
