One morning, just as I was about to set off to my office, Agrafena, my cook, washerwoman and housekeeper, came in to me and, to my surprise, entered into conversation.
She had always been such a silent, simple creature that, except her daily inquiry about dinner, she had not uttered a word for the last six years. I, at least, had heard nothing else from her.

"Simple straightforward fable"
An easy listen, contrary to many of Dostoyevsky's novels. The honest thief raises the question of whether it is fine to forgive or accept a lie in some circumstances especially when there are more important things to be worrying about.
Dostoyevsky's short stories are always a joy to read and listen because of the power of his storytelling. The reader could have been slightly slower but other than did a fine job in narrating.
