Publisher's summary

This is a full-cast recording of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday favorite A Christmas Carol, the tale of miserly old Ebenezer Scrooge.

It is Christmas Eve, and the air outside is as cold as Scrooge’s heart. Come nightfall, Scrooge receives three visitors: the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Each spirit takes him on a hair-raising journey through time, yielding glimpses of Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit—and even Scrooge’s painfully hopeful younger self. Will Scrooge’s heart be opened? Can he escape his cursed fate?

A Christmas Classic

Would you consider the audio edition of A Christmas Carol (Dramatized) to be better than the print version?

YES! I cannot say this emphatically enough. It was the perfect Christmas eve listen as it only runs about an hour long and with the sound effects completely transports the listener to the streets of 19th century England.

Wonderfully Classic

A wonderful and classic story told in an old English fashion. True to the original in spoken word and spirit.

Energetic audio play

This is a full-cast audio play with music and sound effects. It's a deft adaptation of Dickens' story, well-acted, and with one of the scariest Marleys around. For me, it falls just short of five stars because of the mix of American and British accents. By itself that wouldn't be a problem, but in a couple of cases a character will drift unsteadily between the two. It is, however, a lively and mostly satisfying production that captures a surprising amount of the detail of the original.

My Go to every year

Wonderful production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol!" Orson Welles' narration is potent and Lionel Barrymore as Ebenezer Scrooge is tops. Highly recommended!

this has been one of my favorite stories. a dramatization gave it the old time radio feel which added to the experience.

Excellent performance - absorbs one into a classic

We've enjoyed this version many times. I looked, but haven't found a better overall version. Not even the version with a very talented actor.

This was a stunningly effective dramatization of an amazing tale. The dialogue, the sound effects, the actors and actresses--all are top notch.

A Dickens classic

This is a wonderful, heartwarming radio adaptation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I was transported back to Victorian England with the entertaining sound effects and voice performances. Well done!
