Publisher's summary

Their loving union should have marked a new era. Instead, they’re racing headlong into all-out war.

Chrysalis longs to heal the rift tearing her realm apart. But the happy couple has barely begun their honeymoon when her husband is ripped from her arms by savage bounty hunters.

Desperate to track down his captors and free her bridegroom, Chrysalis embarks on a dangerous solo quest deep into treacherous lands ruled by slavery and populated by centaurs, dwarves, and a vicious blood-dragon. Securing a small band of allies to help her raise the money to buy back her spouse, she takes on a perilous mission that could reunite their hearts...or tear the kingdom in two.

Will Chrysalis find her beloved and reclaim the path to peace?

Interesting

This was a good continuation of the series. A story of reuniting love and treasure hunts. A bit unrealistic, even for fantasy, but not too bad.

Exciting Fantasy

I enjoyed the second book in the series as much as the first one. This book focused on Chrysalis and Chass, who were two of my favorite characters from the first book. There were many twists and turns in their tale that kept my attention. I was entertained by their story and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I recommend this tale to others who enjoy this genre. Shannon Hobby's narration was great and added to the story's enjoyment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Love and harrowing adventure

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated nicely by Shannon Hobby... Set not longer after the first adventurous story, Chrysalis and Chass life was suppose to be one of marriage and happiness even as war is still looming but shatters when they are assaulted and Chass is captured by bounty hunters. Chrysalis will have none of their crap and storms after them, stumbling into her own precarious journey to get her husband back. Beautifully switching chapters between them, this second book in and already immersive series delivers an labyrinthine path full of hope and love and gripping situations. Highly recommended.

Action and likeable characters make a great story

I really enjoyed Chrysalis and the Fire of the Forge, Temple of the Storm book 2. Robbie and Stephen have done a great job with this series so far and it continues to get better. Lots of action, characters you want to succeed, and a great story overall. I look forward to book 3! Audio Version: This was my first time listening to Shannon Hobby as a narrator and I really enjoyed her take on the characters.

Great Teen Fantasy

Parents- PG13 - pretty clean but meant for teens and up
Language- none that I remember
Violence- some battle violence but not very graphic, slavery/slavers
Sexual Content- Kissing, excitement for honeymoon but no sex scenes, fawn & elven marriage causes questions from characters of how that will work

This book was more from Chrysalis's perspective but it does hop between other character's perspectives which I really enjoyed. The book starts out before Chrysalis (Satyr) and her elf groom's wedding. On the road to their honeymoon destination they are attached, separated and the rescue adventure begins. The story has a good pace, is quite entertaining fantasy adventure with a D&D / RPG vibe.

Narrator- 3⭐ great voices and acting although it felt a bit slow but much better at 1.35x speed.

A great continuation of the series!

Taking place after Arianna was able to break the curse over the land that King Drevan had started, though King Drevan was not completely defeated, this book begins not long after book 1 ended. Chrysalis, daughter of Egris, and Chass, best friend of Arianna, are the protagonists. This book begins with the two protagonists getting married. While the two are traveling by carriage after the wedding, they were attacked by bounty hunters and Chass was taken. Suddenly, rather than being able to celebrate her new marriage, Chrysalis must now track those same bounty hunters in order to find and free Chass. Though, what begins as a simple tracking mission soon becomes much more complicated. Will Chrysalis be able to find and free Chas or will they both fall to those who support King Drevan?

This book was just as good as the first one was. With the first one ending with the breaking of the curse, there are many books or series that would have ended there. I like that this was not the case with this story and that we are able to see what is happening afterward as the resistance to King Drevan continues to grow. I also really liked that this book presents the story through the eyes of different characters. While Arianna was certainly central to the breaking of the curse, so much happened to her that she is still dealing with the fallout of those issues when this book begins. Since Chass and Chrysalis were both characters in the first book, they are known to the readers already, though we certainly learn much more about them through the events and actions of this book unfold.

The same narrator, Shannon Hobby, also narrated this book, and she did a wonderful job with this one, too. Whether you choose to read or listen to this book, I think you will be happy.

Based on the title alone, I expect that the next book will also have Chass as the protagonist, which means Chrysalis will also likely appear. I look forward to reading/listening to that book, too.
