Publisher's summary

There is no sanctuary.

That was taken away in the blink of an eye. Humanity went out not with a whimper, but a bang.

Jack, a sometimes humorous, sometimes philosophical ex-special operations pilot and soldier is one of the few left to struggle through the desolation left in the aftermath; seeking to survive as a new ferocious species emerges from the rubble, hungry and unrelenting. Will his special forces training be enough? Will he be able to keep his children safe and guide the few survivors through perils that now roam the world they once knew? Or will the hordes that now own the night prevail, forever removing the last of mankind from existence? Humankind was once at the top of the food chain. But that has now changed.

This hard-hitting, action-packed series begins with Jack Walker being suddenly thrust into a world where the infrastructure which cherished Armani suits, night clubs, fast and expensive cars and watching the daily stock market are gone. Left in its place is the material world mankind built but a majority of the population has vanished; replaced by a new, savage, unrelenting, cunning, animalistic species which hunts and operates at night.

Like the Jack character

I was hoping this was a continuation or integration of the Red Team with the vampire story arch. Was no mention of this so I am guessing it’s just a zombie storyline.

Better than the books

After reading the book series and knowing how it ends, I decided to go Audio and it’s been well worth it.

came from a shrouded world

Was introduced to the character of Jake Walker in A Shrouded World. this story is solid, the characters well fleshed out, the monsters are a good variant of zombie/mutants.

the narrator is ok....I think.... he's just different from Sean Runnette so I'm a little biased from hours and hours of a different narrator portraying the same character.

Came for horror, stayed for the people

I discovered this via the multiverse travels of Mike Talbot and John the Tripper. I found Jack Walker to be interesting enough to cross over to A New World. While the change from Sean to Mark was a tad rough, Mark found his Sway by the 2nd book and gave was just as good in the end. strong story got me through the rough narration, and thankfully so as Mark Gagliardi turned into a full on champion of this universe. I initially like Sean's voice for Jack when I started, but after finishing the series, fully believe Mark Gagliardi to be the only voice for Jack Walker.

Pretty Great!

I first discovered John via Mark Tufo books. Each world mixes together at some point, and I wanted to listen to more of the other half. This first book did NOT disappoint. Do I miss Sean Runette as a narrator? Yes. Am I’m super upset with Mark? Nope. He kindof sounds like the main army man from the movie Toy Soldiers, so it was a little hard to get into. But honestly, the writing was more than good enough to overcome the initial discomfort of listening to something different for a change. On to the next! :)

Narrator was terrible.

The storyline was decent above average I would say, but the narrator killed it for me. I quit. Wasted credit.
