It Started Off OK….But Lost Me!

I love all types of shifter stories, and the summary to Carver really caught my attention. I was excited to listen, but sadly as the story unfolded, I just could not connect to either the plot or characters.

Overall, it was an OK story, and it had an interesting concept of a guardian and shifters; however, the delivery of the plot left me confused, lost, and frustrated with all the jumping around. Many of the scenes felt under-developed, and l was left with more questions than answers. I thought there were too many scenes, ideas, and time jumps packed into such a short story.

This is the first story I've heard narrated by David Quimby, and he did a decent job. He used the right amount of tones, and inflections to convey the different emotions throughout the story.

I gave the story an overall 3 stars. I didn't dislike the book, I just felt confused throughout the story. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Exciting Read

I received this audio book free for an honest review. The author of this book writes a story that grabs you from the beginning and keeps you there until the end. Monique is a very unique and lonely woman hiding from her past. Carver is the Alpha with a pup whose mom has been killed. There is suspense, thrill, romance and magic in this book. I loved the writing and the narrating. I have another book of Ms. Foxxe's waiting in the wings to listen to. This one I purchased. Great author. Worth buying her stuff.

Different but good

for a shifter book this one is different from most I have listened to. a good different.
the story is well thought and the characters are well created . The narrator is very good.

Light, fluffy, and totally enjoyable

What an enjoyable listen! I love shifter stories, and this one was a lot of fun. Foxxe's writing was incredibly engaging, the smut was smoking hot, and I found myself actually invested in the action and the love story. If you are looking for a well narrated romance novel with well written action and some actual plot, you will enjoy this book.

Unexpected!!!

I love paranormal romance and this story was different from any other for me. It has some nice moving parts that will keep you interested. It was a shorter listen but I didn't feel rushed. I liked the narrators voice but would've preferred to hear a woman's voice for the female parts.

Great story

Potentially great story but I got lost

I love fantasy stories and shifter romances are one of my favorites. I was drawn to this book by the description but the further I got into the story the harder it was for me to stay connected to each character. I liked the undertones of human triumph over past experiences. It just jumped around too much for my liking. I would have liked to have more connection to the shifter personalities and how they differed from their human counterpart.

All in all it is a good book even though I personally had trouble staying connected.

Not bad

I received this book for free in order to give an honest review. I enjoyed it. The characters kept me interested. I liked the story line. Except for the Language it could have been a good book even for a teen. Didn't seem to be about so much Carved as the son and Monique. Still did enjoy it.

For me, the best feature of this story was the premise of a shifter guardian - a nice change to the predictable shifter tropes. Carver and Monique are likeable characters, and again, each brought a new twist to the story.

The narrator was okay, but his accent as Monique was a bit off to my ears.

While the story premise was strong, I found some of the author's skill lacking. I didn't feel well oriented to the time and setting, and some of the events felt contrived, such as Carver's instant attraction to Monique right on the heels of his mate's death.
