Publisher's summary

Christmas cheer has sent the griddle into overdrive at Robbie Jordan's popular country store and cafe. And this year, there's a new seasonal special to feast on: murder!

As December sweeps through South Lick, Indiana, Robbie's life seems merry and bright like the string lights glistening around town. But strange happenings signal a bumpy ride into the holidays. First a man raises eyebrows at Pans 'N Pancakes when he claiming to be the long-lost half-brother of Robbie's assistant. Then a fire destroys the home of a controversial anesthesiologist, exposing skeletal remains in his attic.

Helplessly intrigued, all Robbie wants for Christmas is to stop her winter wonderland from becoming a real nightmare. With a decades-old mystery taking shape, can she run as fast as she can in pursuit of a killer who's harder to crack than a stale gingerbread man?

Love it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is the first one out of the series I have listened to. The only complaint I have, is the narrator. The Robbie character is around 30 years old, but the narrator sounds like she is 80 years old. She reminded me of Angela Lansbury. I had to keep reminding myself that Robbie is young, because the narrator’s voice was throwing me off.

I do believe I can’t do this anymore!

Well, I was not surprised about the very ending but it was nice. Now, I enjoy the stories minus the main character. I must admit she plucks a nerve.
1. The thought processes she has runs in the category of mind your own business chic.
2. How can one female owned businesses owner not spend more time trying to garner more customers vs trying to solve crimes/puzzles.
3. The characters Aunt sounds younger than her in terms of thinking.
4. The voice actress choice of voice for main character is weird for a 30 something female.
5. I am willing to suspend my belief factor for a good cozy but this series is becoming annoying and the only reason I keep purchasing the books is to tell the main character to mind her business!
Now, if you are looking for a curse free, some semblance of religion & a dash of political rhetoric this series is for you. The books are not bad but I am simply stuffed from all the busy body behavior from the main character! Good luck & enjoy!!

Candy Slain Murder

Maddie Day provided a believable story with down-to-earth characters. Although the narrator performed well, her accent was off-putting.

Love this series!

It was so good to be back in South Lick at Pans 'N Pancakes for this book!

When a body is found in a burning house, can Robbie help the local police find out what happened in this cold case? But when they find the dead body's twin sister murdered a couple of days later, this small town mystery heats up quite a bit.

I love Robbie so much! She is such a fun character and I love reading about her. I loved being back with all of the South Lick characters. I forgot how much I loved them during the last book. I liked the details in this book and all the different parts of town we get to see. I do wish that the push back against the racist customer was more forceful. I feel like it was just a passive response. I liked that the book tried to confront the racism that is rampant in our country, but I just feel like it needed to be stronger. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next one!

Fun Christmas Themed Cozy Mystery

While not my favorite installment in the series, I did enjoy the book. It was nice to visit all of the familiar characters especially at Christmas time. The plot excelled at pushing the main character's personal story forward. It's worth a read based upon that alone.

The mystery itself was a bit unsatisfying. I don't really buy into the motive for some reason.

Narrator

Narrator sounds too old for these characters. I didn’t finish book because of this. Very slow

Reader

The lady reading has a lovely voice but she makes Robbie seem to be 60. I have read the book and so I couldn’t go past the first couple of chapters. It ruined the story.
