Great book, terrible narrator

The guy should at least read the text once before trying to read and record it, as he constantly stumbles on words unfamiliar to him. Very unprofessional.

Great story, not-so-great narrator

I was a bit disappointed in being taken out of the story between mispronunciations and words not being said altogether. That being said, the book is interesting and still is a must read!

Awfully bad narration.

Couldn’t stand how this guy destroyed the book. Even unable to listen the first chapter.

The goddamn piano

This was the worst audio book I’ve ever personally experienced this book made me incomprehensively enraged. This is a perfect fine book there’s a reason that candide is a classic book. But this audio version is unreal. First of all the narrator obviously didn’t read the book before recording his cover, and was so uninterested that he was physically incapable of making another take the 84th time he stumbled over a word. But this incompetence pails in comparison, to the unimaginable scoring. Scoring you may ask audiobooks aren’t supposed to have music and I would agree with you. For some unholy reason after creating the worst reading of any book ever, they decided that it was not head splitting nor pretentious enough. And added the most repetitive poorly looping piano music I’ve ever heard. I will be lying on my death bed and this piano will be looping in my mind. When you first get into it you may think “ok this is wired”. But no after three hours. Of the same maybe 30 second piano loop you have a splitting headache, the piano will forever be stuck in your head and you will forever hate candide. I have been forced by this audiobook to listen to this piano loop over 300 times. And the worst part of it all the part that sent me into a blind rage when I discovered it is that this didn’t have to be. there is a free better produced version of candide on audible. Oh yes, dear reader, I’ve paid money to experience this. This has been, and probably will be the worst thing I have ever experienced in audio form.

Buyer Beware

If you pay via credit card, you cannot return the audible. As I listened, I thought that is exactly how it would sound if I was reading it out loud for the first time. Not sure how this got on Audible.
